Is it possible to change an SS Uni Lock joint to a 5/16x14 joint?

I am curious if it is possible for you to change the joint (on the shaft and butt) from a SS uni lock joint to any type of piloted 5/16x14 joint? How complicated would that be to do (if it is even possible), and do you know how much that would cost? I have a cue with a SS uni lock joint on it, and I thought it would be nice to have a piloted 5/16x14 joint on the cue (think maybe I would like the hit better). Thanks.
 
Find a competent cue repair person near you. It is possible, but I can not tell the difference in a cues hit when the 2 parts are tightly joined together. Some are more sensitive to the vibrations in a cue than others.
But don't be disappointed if it still feels the same.
I would think that if you do not like the hit of the current set up, try a different tip 1st. Much cheaper option, Tips have a big effect on the play of the cue.

Change your tip. If you try every tip known to man, the joint screw may still not give you what you want.
 
Just joined this place but have doing repair work for over 15 years. Another option to consider first or at least second is the ferrule material. If you want to go harder and stiffer, think about a resin based fiber-linen. Softer would be your plastics. I'm always amazed at somebodies reaction when I do that....it's a whole different hit, even using the same type tip.

Very true.... also an uncapped ferrule has a crisper feel....
