Is it time to sell my JF SW?

Seeing the same ones "going around" is a good sign that the better ones may be holding their value.. As for them going any higher I'd guess the overseas market may be a good barometer??

I responded specifically to your post regarding JF-era SW's, and not new SW's. Until I see someone posting a JF-era cue at a crazy price and see it sold immediately (without haggling), my view isn't going to change.

As far as the new SW's, they've always sold quickly and for a high price - some people want new cues and don't want to wait years on end to get one. The same is true of many high-end cues.
 
The value will keep going up. SW is making less and less cues each year. I was told only about 90 completed so far this year. I had two that were started in the building process in March and they still are not done. But I’m in no hurry and can wait. Just letting you know they are gonna be harder and harder to get, even with the already good volume of them out there.

A lot of people are looking for the "right" Gus. It would be interesting to see a thread of serious searchers discussing what such a cue would be for them. There are a few very nice ones available at the moment, at nice prices.

Normally I would too but....

A four point no inlay Gus in fair shape goes for "around" 5K + or - ... I've been offered much more for my JF. The cue I was offered was a mid 70's cue that was not visually appealing and had some condition issues that I was not willing to deal with. If the cue was a later model say an 80's cue, I may have taken the trade...

Typically in the past JF cues of comparable design and condition have sold for a premium compared to post JF cues....

That's one of the reasons I posted the thread.... To get some opinions from collectors. Still waiting to hear from some of the big dogs but I'm not going to hold my breath.. ;)

Sounds like you are the guy to know. Could you please find me about ten of those 5K Gus cues? I'll pay for them with gold nuggets if you would like.

Ive seen 4 plus the one offered to me just this year... So I take it any "fair" condition plain four point Gus I find in the 4 to 6 range you will guarantee a sale??
