Jayson Shaw has a strong American following, and he is, in my opinion, the "darling" of Matchroom's World Nineball Tour.

I do think he is worthy of being in the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame when comparing him to other inductees in past years.

That said—and I hope this is not taken the wrong way—why can't England create their own hall of fame and include some non-British inductees in it, the same way we induct non-Americans in ours?

I don't know much about the Billiards Hall of Fame, but applying the approach of other sports, I would think Shaw is a North-of-the Border pick if his career ended today.

But it won't. He's 36 and can look forward to at least five, and maybe 10 more years, of high-level play.

In team sports, winning a title is not a must for HOF entry. In individual sports it plays a much bigger role.

Shaw's number of major titles is not high, but he has been consistently one of the best players for the last 13-15 years.

I would expect Jayson to achieve hall of fame.

I'm no expert on the HOF. I don't know how many people they induct, how many they exclude, what the requirements are, etc.

If it was up to me, though, I wouldn't go strictly on number of #1 finishes in international events. I'd also consider other factors such as place on the money list (giving credit for consistent deep runs), peak Fargorate, known ability/notoriety, high straight pool record, and of course career longevity once it's gone on a bit longer. Adding this all up it seems to me he belongs.

If the HOF is strictly off of international titles and they have clear standards he fails then that's up to them, but that would just make the HOF lose credibility with me personally as it wouldn't reflect the total of a player's greatness.

PS- He has also won the US Open. I was there in 2017 when he looked invinsible against Klenti Kaci in the finals and FSR in the hotseat match. When Shaw is on a roll it is something special!

could not care less. is that a vote option??
agreed

and i am not a professional but whenever
i have the task of creating a poll
i always include some sort of option
beyond yes/no
like go away or
i don’t care or
why does it matter

the reason i looked at the BCA’s definition of HOF
is because the MLB and NFL inclusion
can center around reasons that are
political, personal, secretive, arbitrary
and changing

if it wasn't borderline the question wouldn't been worth asking. but he has more years in him, insane talent, and lots of opportunities. when time comes he will surely be in the HOF. it's crazy that one US open, two other major titles and all his other achievements is considered weak but that's the competition now. ko pin yi is also 35 and is a double world champion + a laundry list of titles. wu jiaqing is also that age, albin ouschan too.

What is the list of players with more natural talent than Jayson? Filler, Prime Earl? The list is not very long.

I’m no Jayson Shaw fan, but the talent level is undeniable and he’s a no-doubt HOF IMO.
