is my room too small?

I was planning to buy a 7ft pool table to play straight pool/practice at home but I might not have the space.

Living Room is 12'8''/13'6''x23',hope the pictures work, im too lazy to explain.
Top view of the living room looks like this:

I calculated using 7'x4' table with 58'' cue and a 6'' draw length.
Width needed : Width of table + 2(Cue length) + 2(draw length)
Am i doing it right? This way i need a width of about 15'.

However,this website said 12' 8" x 16' for 7' table with 57'' cue.

Is there something I don't know?

Should i looked for a 6ft table instead or just practice outside in the poolrooms? Can I make this work? Your thoughts? If i squeezed it in I'll have to convince my parents to move/throw away the sofa and tv too. I think its too small and will probably use the money to buy a bike.

For a 7' table, I'd recommend a room that is 17' x 13'6" (minimum). Remember, the measurements of a pool table - in this case 7' x 3'6" - correspond with the outer perimeter. With that in mind, simply adding 5 feet to each side is generally enough to accomodate play with a 58" cue.

13'6" x 23' should be fine. You won't have much room to put anything on the sides of the table, but you've got room for at least a couple of chairs and a mini fridge on either of the short rail sides

P.S. I just noticed this was your first post. Welcome to the forums!

my firewall didn't let your pictures open , and I trust it more than I trust you , so I'm going to give my opinion without seeing the room .

You have plenty of length , and should be able to leave a sofa on the long side of the room . If you must retain on old style box tv , there should be no problem putting it high up on a wall bracket so you are under it while shooting .
If replacing the TV is an option , 55 inch flatscreen mounted to the wall should make Dad ecstatic , especially if he likes sports or pornos .

re the width of the table : if you get it in , and you seem to need a trouble shooter when the cue is frozen to the side rail , offset the table just a few inches to one side . Then you can use the conventional cue on one side , and the trouble shooter on the other allowing you to get good practice on at least on side of the table !

A 6' table is out of the question , because no one makes a top quality 6' table . Might as well try to practice on a bumper pool table . . .

In any event tho , check with Moms before buying ANYTHING , or you and your table might end up living in the alley out back . . . .

most sites that post the minimum requirements for a pool table are a little short(maybe to encourage a pool table purchase?),but it looks like you should be fine for a 7' table. Have fun!
