Is Predator's move into every aspect of pro billiards really a good thing?

So, from top sponsorships, to cues, to racks, tables, balls... now entire tournaments that sport ONLY their products? It seems they are now attempting to establish a monopoly over every aspect of the sport of Pro Billiards? But is this really a good thing?

What do you mean tournaments that have only their products? You are not talking about the players using only Predator cues are you? If you mean the equipment at the table is all theirs, why not? There are maybe 2-3 companies out there capable of supplying good equipment to a pool tournament, it's not very hard to have a tournament where everything is one brand. You know that when Diamond was a distributor for Dynaspheres all the equipment was Diamond right? And when Brunswick was sponsoring pool more the tables, racks and tables were all Brunswick.

I don't think Predator is at any risk of being a monopoly with Diamond, Matchroom, Brunswick, Aramith and Simonis in the mix since those are all considered best of breed.

Just for the record Diamond was distributor of Cyclop balls not Dynaspheres. The co that makes them signed a contract to make Dyna's thus Cyclop brand went away. Totally agree with your take here. No one outfit is going to just take over all of pool. Plenty of room for all to get in. With B'wick coming out with the new GC7 and having new owners i really hope they get back into more visiblity.

I'm not a predator fan they're okay but they're spending a lot of money and at least they're doing something and they do a good job
It has to be healthy for pool I don't see any problem with it

I'm confused. Are we talking about what they were or what they are. 30yrs ago they made an innovative shaft. A shaft I never liked, but innovative, regardless. Now they are a marketing company--which they were then, also, they had other manufacturers making all their butts.

Now other companies make similar shafts (that I still don't like), and predator outdoes most in marketing.

Predator followed the Apple path--make something new once or twice and develop a fanbase that will blindly buy anything you shove at them.
I guess you're just a hater? A company started by 2 cuemaker independent guys turns into the biggest player in our game. They hire an intern 20 years ago who eventually becomes the CEO and takes the company to even greater heights, expanding the company into all the pool markets.

I guess Ford, Toyota, every other car company in the world is a "marketing" company by your definition?

What would you prefer, a garage at the side of a house with a couple guys sanding shafts?

Your'e thinking like a "small time charlie" as Eddie said.

Predator is the biggest success story in pool since Brunswick in its heyday.

Jeebus, let it go. I don't think they make great products and they market them. That's all I said. They make okay cues that I find ugly, just like their stupid kitty logo.

You think they are great, bully for you. I don't. Stop crying about my opinion.

Look, the guy prays at the Predator altar and is psychotic in his hate of Diamonds. I just tossed him on Ignore. That shit got old long time ago.
