Is SVB winning less tourneys since switching to cf?

Woodshaft

Do what works for YOU!
It seems to me that Shane was dominating everything with his cuetec R360 shaft, and shot straight as hell. But, in the past few years since switching to the cf Cynergy shaft, he doesn't seem to place as high in events and seems to miss more often. Anyone else noticing this?
I'm pretty sure Cuetec "forced" him to use and endorse the Cynergy shaft (and for the steady contract money I don't blame him), but I wonder how he'd be doing now if he still used the R360? Thoughts?

Predator tried to get Josh Filler (the world's best shooter imo) to use a cf Revo for a few years and he said "no", even after the 11.8mm came out.
The world's 2nd straightest shooter, Jayson Shaw, Mr. 714, will never use cf.
Both of these gentlemen have out-performed SVB in overall big kid's tourney play in the past few years since SVB switched to cf.
Thoughts?

Has NOTHING to do with the shaft. Please. Cuetec didn't 'force' him to use cf.

I don't know any of these men personally, but it's been said many times that Shane's dedication isn't what it used to be when he was younger. That's the most likely reason. Other possible reasons include age, others catching up to him, relaxing once all his endorsement money came rolling in, etc.

I don't think one material is superior to the other. Ouschan, Al-Shaheen, Gorst and many others are making plenty of money using CF shafts. In fact, it seems like that's the direction most pros have gone. People use what they like.

Fedor is also one of the hottest shooters in the world right now, he uses CF. A bunch of other shooters use CF shafts like Sanchez-Ruiz, Chang (Who in my opinion is one of the best shooters in the world), Oi who is playing great, Ouschan ended the year as the #1 shooter.

Wasn't there a recent statement from Shane about not playing in particular events that don't have a format he likes?

Speaking about the newer tournaments featuring shorter races, sets, alternating break, etc. Shane is known to play his best in longer races with winner break. If he doesn't need the money he surely can pick where and when to play.

Anyone who is winning more tournaments than they are expected to win is expected to subsequently win disproportionately fewer tournaments. SVB is very very good and then some, don't hype him any more than that.

Has NOTHING to do with the shaft. Please. Cuetec didn't 'force' him to use cf.
So you really think that (by far) the biggest sponsor (SVB) of Cuetec (at the time) shouldn't have been persuaded$$$$$$$ to use their newly developed "revo-killer" Cynergy? Really?
Shane carried Cuetec when their sticks were crap (still are) and there is no marketing manager in the world dumb enough to let SVB continue to use the R360 shaft while trying to market the new Cynergy. Shane switched because HAD TO, or lose his sponsorship. But, now that they have Gorst on board (shooting better than Shane btw), with the Cynergy, maybe Shane can just go back to the R360 or, better yet, a new, different, non-cf shaft. Then Cuetec can have a two-headed monster it needs to stay afloat in the cue/shaft market.
Predator has four shafts, all sponsored by MANY top pros. Biado--Vantage, Sanchez-Ruiz and the Ouchans--Revo, Filler--Z3, and Kaci--314, etc...
Cuetec would be smart to use their only 2 superstars and have each use/market a different type of shaft. Now's your chance Cuetec! And you're welcome! I'll give you my paypal link soon:cool:

Perhaps I'm ignorant, but isn't Shane more valuable to Cuetec than Cuetec is to him? If he really wanted to play with a R360 they wouldn't stop him. I'm sure they gave him a bonus to persuade him though to use the Cynergy. But consider that Shane could easily walk away from Cuetec and have another sponsor in a matter of hours.

He a/b'd the two shafts when cynergy came out. he said the cf was WAY better than that pos 360(not hard to do). he was not threatened with losing his sponsorship. don't know where you get this from. if you have actual PROOF i'm sure we'd all love to hear it. look, the top players will play great regardless of shaft material. btw, i've tried about ten different cf shafts and the cynergy is one of the best imo. its the most played cf shaft in the room i play in. top players to semi ballbangers.

Yep. He was never going to lose his deal based on his shaft choice. People keep knocking CF really are just set in their ways and/or have never tried one. I'm still using my Mezz because i like the diameter and it plays as good as the CF's i've tried. If i get one the Cuetec will be high on the list. I put one on my Jensen and it played great. A friend was DCC recently and he commented about just how many have switched. Some fad. They are here to stay. Wood will always be around so play what you like.

SVB is a fisherman who happens to play pool, and a smart man. He knew that the Cynergy contract was the way to go for his financial future. He "adjusted" to the cf shaft for his future, even if it cost him a ball or two per event. Again, I don't blame him. But my original question is: "Is he really a better player with cf?"

Switching to cf will not make one a better player. Anyone. Also won't make one a worse player. Keep believing this nonsense.

More top 50 world pros use wood shafts than cf. By a large margin.
But that's not my question. Is SVB better with cf shaft? Major tournament results say no.

I’m sure he was only playing with the R360 because it was the best they had, in my opinion cuetec was absolute garbage until the Cynergy line.
