Is the One Pocket Open a real Open

I am asking because I dont know. Recently in the news the BCA run by Mark Griffin is going to revive the US One Pocket Open. Which I am absolutely delighted by. I will be there! But it is limited to 64 players. When it was held in Kalamazoo anyone could sign up. Can you really call this an open if you are limiting it to only 64? I would love to enter but since there are hundreds of others better than me I would not want the fans to be stuck with seeing someone of lesser quality and deprived of seeing a top pro because there are no spots left. This is one of the reason why the Derby is so great.

My understanding is that it is open to the first 64 who sign up. It is a shame that the event is being limited to 64 players, but I am sure the time at the Casino is limited and there are a number of events that have to be played in a short period of time.

I agree with both of you.

We are lucky to have the tournament in a venue such as a Las Vegas casino, and I understand that the sacrifice for that venue is time constraints.

It is also my opinion that the Derby City is more of a true open event, because it 'Open' to anyone who will step up and pay their entry fee.

Same thing with this BCA 9-Ball tournament going on in Vegas next week. Last I checked, you can't play without an invitation. Ridiculous. The US Open 9-Ball, like the DCC is exactly what it says, Open. I think that all tournaments should be like that.
