That’s true. It’s very expensive
Also the internet has replaced the need to go to a trade show and search out new products. Just use Google.
As far as conferences Zoom calls have replaced them quite a bit.
Some conferences are still best in a proper conference setting.
I have a friend in the F&B dept at Mandalay Bay which is primarily a “trade show” hotel. Their attendance numbers are off 65-70% of normal. It’s bad. Same at Luxor next door.
Will the numbers ever be what they were? Unlikely is my guess. The league pool, chess players, ping pong, and other conferences will always come and get robbed by Vegas. But I just don’t seeing the annual attendance for those sorts of events ever coming back fully.
Vegas ain’t going out of biz, but it will sway away from trade shows/conventions into something new over the next 10 years. It has a way of reinventing itself.
Best
Fatboy<———liked it when the mob ran the town
Well Las Vegas screw over the hood thing they had going because of greed, and corporate bean counters trying to extract every dime from everyone.
Rooms use to be reasonable. Today they are not, you getting charge to park your car at hotel you are staying, plus resort fees.
Food use to be reasonable, and most place had Midnight to 6am specials that were special. Today you got restaurants, branded by Goid TV Chef, with high prices.
Friend is in Premium Cigar Business, their shoe is no
longer Cigars & Related Products. It and association is rebranded to include Pot and Vape products.
Everything from space to display, setup, take down, and seal with Unions who overcharges for everything is nuts.
So actual traffic to convention is down because Las Vegas has become expensive, and they do not care.
Last place like Arizona have Indian casinos, Sport Book a so those weekend to Las Vegas now are to
Local Indian Casino.
