is there a way to break in a leather wrap fast?

I just had a new lizard print wrap installed and it is hard and slick feeling. I know they become soft and kind of tacky after they are broken in but that takes a long time and lots of play. I was wondering if there was something I could do to speed up the process maybe a conditioner or something I can apply? Thanks in advance for any info

Play 8 hours a day for a month. Thats about all I can offer. Any advice on az should be taken with a grain of salt (on this topic). The best recomendation is to talk with who actually processed the skin, if you can find them. I wouldnt take the chance with random advice. There may be a few on here that actually know about this, but how do you know for sure? Go get it right from the lizards mouth. Also any type of conditioner COULD make the wrap loosen up on your cue. I wouldn't take the chance.
Also you said "lizard print". Is it real lizard or is it leather made to resemble lizard? Never heard of real lizard skin refered to as "print".

These guys might be able to help.

real or printed?

You should ask the one, who has installed the wrap. Is it a printed lizard or a real lizard wrap?
A real lizard feels warm and soft, if you grab it. A printed one could be more slick.

Nevertheless I wouldn't do anything to change it's condition other than playing it. Too much risk in bleaching it or loosen it up from the underground!

Hope this helps...

its leather not real, unfortunately I don't have the time to play 8 hours a day and I really don't like the feel of the wrap. A couple friends of mine have the same wrap but their wraps have been installed a long time and they feel great. Just hoping to speed up the process as I cant stand the damn thing right now lol

Anything that you do to purposely distress the wrap will shorten its life and might ruin it. Let it break in over time, the more you play the quicker it will happen.

Another point...if you had linen wrap before this, it might just take a little time to adjust to the feel of the leather. It just feels "foreign" to you.

New leather wraps are often sealed after they are dyed which causes them to feel slick.. I would find out who they bought the wrap from and contact them... Some sealers are water soluable and a hot damp rag will do while others are soluable only to thinners so you would need to be extra careful rubbing it off... I would find out what was used and then take the cue back to the installer... Having the butt on the lathe gives you much better control of your work area than just trying to do it by hand....

I used fast orange with Lanolin on an old d19 McDermott that I had a new leather wrap on and it worked out great in about 20 minutes.. Still my go to product for shaft cleaning LOL. I was young and stupid and now that I am old and stupid I would likely try it again.....

Thanks for the advice so far. As far as the manufacturer goes, the wrap is made by the tiger company
