Is this a foul?

Jayson Shaw vs Ko Ping Chung playng 10-ball. Jayson makes the 10 in the side on the break, it doesnt get spotted, then he banks the 2 directly through the foot spot where the 10 should've been spotted.

I'm just curious. I thought that would be a foul, but...no one said anything including the ref.

If there is a ref watching over the game, it's not a foul. The ref should have spotted the ball when it went in, if he did not, they can't call a foul on Jayson for shooting it. The ref made a mistake if he did not spot the ball when it should have been.

If it was just them playing and Jayson shot it, Ko could have stopped the shot and told him to spot it first.

I am pretty sure that whatever balls need to be spotted are spotted before the next shot.

People still play 10 ball?

Nope, this was the only 10 ball game this year. The rest are playing double rack rotation with 30 balls on 4" pockets.

There may even be a few that still play 9 ball, and some straight pool. Just a few though, in specific areas. I think in the north of Chicago there are 4 or 5 guys that play 9 ball.

OFFICIAL RULES OF CUESPORTS INTERNATIONAL
From pages 104 and 105.

Rule 4-5-1-b: If the 10-ball is illegally pocketed but not noticed by either player, and any shot is taken before it is noticed, the game will be re-played with the player who broke
breaking again.

In this case it would have benefited Shaw to re-rack since Ko had a shot on the 2.

The shot from the 6 to 7 was pretty amazing to me. The commentators were saying Ko had been playing badly. I couldn't tell by his position play on that shot.
