Is this a good deal?

unfortunately its too small between centers to do a shaft cleaning. Without a decent amount of modification tips cannot be done either.

Contact Todd (tsp&b on here) www.midamericapool.com or chris hightower @ www.cuesmith.com for a decent starter package to get started with tips ferrules and shaft cleaning.

I'd like to make this into something to replace tips and shaft cleaning. Does this sound like a good deal? Thoughts or advice in doing so, other than buying one that's already intended for cue repair?

Thanks to all that reply

After having tried that same thing with that same lathe I can tell you that the money invested in the machine and the conversion could have paid for a couple of the basic machines from Mid America Pool. I'm a pretty handy guy, but I'm no engineer or machinist and perhaps some of the more advanced guys (repair and builders) can give some good advice on the conversion, but I can say with confidence after having done that, the monetary investment and the time and frustration are not worth the product you will wind up with. I can also say with complete confidence (and I'm sure everyone will agree) that you'll never be able to stop there and in the end you'll purchase a cue lathe anyways, then what you'll have is a functional cue lathe that you use, and hybrid contraption that takes up space. One other thing... stay away from those Ebay cowboy machines. Welcome to the addiction.

That's a good deal if you make pens.
You can't change tips with that .
There is no hole where the shaft can go in. And where you can chuck up on the ferrule to hold hit steady.

Thanks for the replies. I know for certain anything I'd get would only be used in tip changing and some shaft cleaning. I have neither the desire, nor the budget to create cues myself.

I've been doing tips using a drill and some Joe Picone delrin arbors. It works pretty well but was looking into something easier.
