Hi,

I have the uppertunity to buy the case pictured below. The owner (I don't suspect him of lying at all) claims that this is an original leather Instroke 2/4 case. The ones being sold now by Joe Nielsen for example look different, the leather is smoother and the closing mechanism looks different. If I understand correctly these cases were manufactured in different countries over time, it would be nice if someone could positively id this one. This is the only picture I have btw.

many thanks, Dave.

i am, by no means, an expert but i believe that the latches used on that case are of the older style. they now use the improved, Diamond latch.

The case pictured looks like it should be an Instroke case made by the German Company. These were manufacturered in the Czech Republic. It is either leather or vinyl - I lean towards vinyl by the look of it. It is hard to tell though because the picture is blurry. I would say that it is 95% an Instroke or a private label brand from the same place based on the picture.

Hello John,

Thanks for the quick response. Looks to be ok then. The case is in excellent condition, if it is leather would it be as valuable as the Instrokes produced in different countries? I'll make some better pictures when I get the case. Hope this doesn't sound to stupid, but smell aside is there another definite way to determine whether it's vinyl or leather?

again many thanks, Dave.

It looks like their skai vinyl.... but you can feel the difference when you handle it. If it feels like a school bus seat..... its vinyl.
