Is this for real?

It's not a true sledgehammer by mike g. But he does state "Break like a sledge hammer and jump like a frog."

Yes the ferrule/tip is a bit shorter, but it's not a sledgehammer.

The item description is simply "*NEW STYLE* Phenolic Jump Break cue poolstick cuestick"

I don't see anything wrong with it. Will keep looking into it.
 
I do believe the Players JB cues that come with the phenolic tip has the same thing, its a shorter phenolic tip/ferrule.

I don't need anymore is the funny part. But, that cue looks well worth 40 dollars, heck I bid 47 on it and got outbid. So what :)

I have like 12 cues. And 3 break cues that are all perfectly fine. heck if I were to lose or sell them all, I'd still have plenty of house cues to play with :)
 
From my one experience bidding on this cue, the seller has shill bidders up the wahoo.

Trying to snipe the item in last two minutes, one bidder had a max of over $50; as soon as the auction is over I get an email for a second chance offer at my high bid of 49.

Having helped a friend of mine develope a break cue, I am concerned about the wood to wood joint on the cue. While field testing early prototypes, it didn't take us long to realize you had better put a ring around both sides of the joint if you want it to last. Plain wood to wood joints shatter and splinter pretty quick depending on how hard you break.

True...when using a big pin. No issues if you have no collars as long as you use a brass insert as they are doing with the cue pictured above.
That cue looks to be a J&J jump break to me...same wood, same design, exact same pin.:rolleyes:

Yep, there are a few sellers doing that and ebay couldn't care less. The ones with private feedback are the worst. Basicly they set their own reserves but still make it look like no reserve then send out 2nd chance offers. It sucks:(

Yea the wood to wood part gets to be a problem if you have a monster break! I had a friend who bought a Action JB off me and within a few months the jb joint / points were splitting because he broke so hard.
