It's golf not pool,but the principal is the same.

I owned a real estate company back in the 70s
Several of the fellas from pool hustling as kids

Every salesman I had could beat me at pool,but I was
always involved in the biggest scores

Now here comes the story that reveals how I operated in the gambling
theater

All of us decided to play golf at a little municipal course about 3 blocks from my real estate office,

When we got there,it was an action spot for golf, a fella asked one of my salesmen to gamble.he
said he couldn't play golf but his boss loved to bet



The new guy was a bit of a bully. type of hustler( more like a pool player than a golfer)
a wanna be.He asked me if I would like to play. I replied i would play but not for less than thousand or so

I was really trying to get rid of him,he ask "How good do you play?"

I replied that I was about as good you you could get,I could beat anybody
in the area. and advised him not to play unless he was prepared to lose

He asked if I had a handicap,and i replied that i was perfectly healthy and
unless he showed me some money I was there for a fun day off the guys from the office


He had a wad of money as did a friend of his,,Both wanted to play.
Both had to bet $1000 or so on a 9 hole match.His Buddy offered to play
only using 5 clubs not a full set

., I thought they were playing a role,like something they had heard about.
It struck me as very unusual.I had already agreed to play and here they were
adjusting or hustling me

To be honest this was a very strange situation,but I just figured they
were idiots,not literally but losers

I grew up on this course and could always play decent,for some reason
I just thought I could not be beat

We played 9 holes,I won almost every hole and busted both guys,I won their money and clubs
and shoes,I remember he has a ping putter from Scottsdale Arizona that
later became very collectible


Is this hustling? I didn't hide my abilities I magnified them,

I didn't beg them to play,I warned them not to play.

Now this is a true story and is only the begging of a long series of time
this same guy came to play

It most certainly is

You should be ashamed of yourself. Not only their money, their golf clubs
but even their SHOES. Just think how you would feel if you came home
BARE FOOT, with no money, and no golf clubs and had to explain to your
wife and kids, what happened. I shiver just to think about.

Redemption is required. Are any of these people still alive. Consider removing all guilt and return their money with interest. You brought stress to where there was none. People try to have fun and it turns into a self serving fund raiser. Was this the prelude to GoFundMe?

IS IT HUSTLING? It's robbery. It's taking candy from a baby. We thought Jesse James was dead.

I disagree. It's like betting a guy "with his own trick". Never do it! My son was in a bar in Atlanta. The young bar tender was telling him how great he was at golf and asked my son to go out and play for $300. My son says "okay". After 3 or 4 holes the guys says; "you tricked me". Bar tender was about a 5 hcp and my son scratch. Played college golf. Watch what you say to strangers!

AZ has come to the aid of many people over the years. Who will join me, in trying
to set this right. I know the golf course Deanoc is talking about in Oak Cliff Tx.
Drop of a unwrapped pair of shoes at my house,and I will drive there, and
find these guys. I will look for barefoot guys with empty golf bags, it shouldn't
take that long. I feel better already.

You’re a good friend. A fixer. Deano owes you. It’s a sad day when things have to be made right. I hope Deano wears 2 pair of pants when he golfs in case he gets a hole in one.
 
Not only is this hustling, Deano, but it's probably the hands-down WORST case scenario I've ever heard. If you have even an *ounce* of self respect and decency, you will do three things. First, you need to contact either those guys, or their families, and apologize. Sincerely. Then you need to return their money, clubs, shoes, etc... plus interest. Even if you have to take out a loan. Lastly? You need to turn yourself in. To the police. And take what's coming to you.

Seriously, Deano... how do you live with yourself? That's disgusting... I feel sick.

Damnit! Isn't there any original thought anymore??? I post something, then I see Jack's post saying something very similar. Now I see yours, GC and it's deja vu all over again! You two grow up in a poolroom or something!!!???
 
Jack ,Gold Crown and Andros are having fun

I played this guy several more times as he became a really good player

I only saw him about 4 times in my life,but I heard stories about him that you wouldn't believe

The next time i saw him he had become a scratch golfer and found out that
he should have beat me the first time

I had just been to the dentist and my mouth was numb,but I said I would take 3 up and play for $1000
on the back nine,he agreed and it was almost a repeat performance

The next time I was driving up Oak Cliff Blvd to visit my mom and saw a huge crowd and gallery so I stopped walked out to see what was up
There he was strutting his stuff,he hit a ball standing on one leg and then offered to bet
he could par the next hole hitting every shot standing on his right leg


Some way or other he had the crowd buffaloed so I took the bet,after he bogeyed the 3rd hole we jacked the bet,I covered side bets ,he never parred a hole, I wish I would run into him again

I hear he has been winning money,accused of cheating and all kinds of stuff

I am not positive but I think I got his clubs the second time as well

I do feel guilty about taking his golf shoes,since I may never see him again,do you think it would square things if I gave Jackpot another pool cue

And while we are at it ,should Jackpot give my money back for that time we won all that money in best ball golf and he didn't help on a single hole on the front nine

He offered to not take the money,but I insisted, i thought he was going to cry for not helping.
I didn't realize it but I beat the guys without a partner,they weren't too good

I was almost ashamed to play them,,but I figured what the heck?Why not let them try to out run the nuts

That is one of the top five goals on my bucket list.
I would like to out run the nuts,I hear it is so fulfilling

Give Jack *two* cues and you're all square. And send me one while you're at it if you want to be "super" square.

From what I've heard. Jack doesn't even *play* golf... so you were on your own from the git-go.

And don't accuse me of having fun. I don't rattle, kid. Just for that, I'm beatin' ya flat!
