I purchased and just received a Blak 4-5 directly from predator and the black finish/paint looks translucent i.e I can see the base wood of the butt through it all over the butt. Is this how it's supposed to look ?
Is this normal for a Predator blak 4-5 ?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean exactly but it looks as I would expect it to be when compared to the website. You have wood stained in black colour and then there is coating on top of that thats transparent to give it the glossy look.

I see. Well, its true that some of their pictures give the impression of solid black but there is one that shows that its transparent. Also, in the video you can see the transparency too. I agree its not very clear and also depends how calibrated your monitor is (mine is calibrated) so you may be deceived by that also.

That is real ebony - highly desirous compared to black stained maple. I have had ebony cues that have shown a lot more of a wood grain than yours. Google ebony images and you'll see. Not all ebony is solid black like piano keys.
