I purchased this shaft about 4 weeks ago. Today, when I was rolling it on the table, I noticed the middle of the shaft never touched the table. Both tip and collar did. This produces a definite roll when connected to my Mezz EC 9 butt. I was under the impression that CF shafts were dead straight. Please see attached pictures.

Any input appreciated.

Does that gap fluctuate or stay the same when you roll it? If it doesn't change i'd say the shaft is tapered a certain way. If it goes up-n-down the shaft is not true. I just rolled my Rhino on granite and its the same way, slight gap in middle. Just the taper imo.

AKA 'warped'. Taper-roll is used car salesman speak for a warped shaft.
If that is the case then from my experience all shafts warp. When rolled it is straight and doesn't wobble but there is clearly a gap.

I don't care anymore since I expect all shafts to be like this eventually. The people selling them as dead on straight is what I'm worried about.

Does it wobble or is there just a gap?
The space does not change when rolled, so I guess that is the taper of the cue. The space does change a little when rolled with the butt. I'm sure it has no effect on play, just wanted to make sure the shaft is ok. I very much appreciate all of your comments!

Together is a different deal. Could be the butt, the joint area, causing that fluctuation. Nothing to worry about.

With a pro-taper you are going to have a gap it's just the shape of the shaft. If the gap changes/ wobbles as it rolls then the shaft isn't straight.

This is every single shaft with a "pro taper". You're looking at the taper.

If you look at the shapes on the right, it should be obvious that if you lay a conical tapered shaft on the table, the whole shaft will touch the table because the profile is a straight line, while a pro tapered shaft will only touch the table near the joint and the ferrule.

I was under the impression that CF shafts were dead straight.
