I was just reading the New Castle, IN paper. It lists a Sam K. from Muncie as the winner of the Indiana State open 9-ball and Masters 8-ball tournaments (BCA). Is that Satman? If yes, then kudos (if no, then Satman needs to practice some more).

Yep... that was our Satman! He won both the Open 9-Ball division and the Men's Master Division 8-Ball! Great Job. Both were pretty tough fields......

FYI.... we're hearing rumors about him getting inducted to the VNEA HAll of Fame as well........ hmmmm......

all this from a guy that installs satelites for a living!

I can play???

Awesome, its nice to know some of us can play a lick.

Thank you very much, I did have a pretty good week. I wish my team would have done a little better. I have been able to hit a few extra balls this winter and have been extra inspired after my beating at DCC in Jan.
And yes it is true I will be inducted into the Valley league hall of fame this year in Las Vegas. I'm extremely excited about that.
Thanks again, Sam.

PS who are you eieio?

Satman,
So let me get this right; if I just hit 3 extra balls this winter I can win next year? Damn, I only hit 2 extra balls last winter, I just knew I should have done more. Congratulations!!

P.S. - you should tell us what happened at DCC.

Willie, Last year at DCC I got a chance to get started and finished in the final 36 of the bank division. This was the only large scale bank tournament I had played so I was pretty happy. This year I started off with Dave Matlock who came to the table like he was late for something. Dave played an incredible match. He broke and scratched, I bank 2 and miss, He banks 6 and out. He breaks runs 2 and misses, I bank 2, he runs out. He breaks and runs 3, I bank 3, He runs out. About 6 minutes total for my first match. Painful.

My next match was close it came down to the last ball. I lost.

One pocket; Either my first or second match I played Jose Parica and I had a chance to win the third game but let it get away on a mental error.
One of my one pocket matches I was down 2 games to 0, 6 balls to 2, and manage to come back to win the set. My opponent was a little upset. What can I say, I don't ever give up til it's over.
Next match I lose 3-2, it was close.

9-ball, I draw Judex James, Who is a fine 9-ball player and I just couldn't get anything going and he pummeled me 7-1. I decided not to buy back in and came back to Indiana to play in Ft. Wayne.

That was it in a nutshell. All those players there and I draw bad all week.

Sam

That's right, 3 extra balls, every 5 minutes for 3-6 hours a day, 5-7 days a week, all winter long, plus excruciating beatings by some of the worlds best players. But remember to have fun and it's all worth it in the end.

If you've never played at Derby city, It's a fabulous tournament. Sam

Second biggest? I would guess it's the world famous, #1 amateur female player in the world. I can't mention any names but is that you tammy. Sam

Ouch. Crappy advice though; if you had ever seen me play you would know it would be 4 extra balls, every 4 minutes, for 13 hours a day, 9 days a week until a week from forever.

I will try to catch one of your matches at DCC next year (I'm undecided if I'll play or just watch).

Willie, I know you don't care much for bar tables but, The Valley state championships are at the Marriot Hotel on 21st street in Indianapolis April 14-18. Lots of good pool at this event. Sam

I didn't know that, but I will try to drop by (I enjoy good pool played on any size surface). I do try to avoid playing on smaller tables, but more because of personality flaws than because of an active dislike. The small tables always makes me think I'm Willie Mosconi (overactive imagination). On the 9 foot tables with tight pockets you know exactly who you are (closer to Chevy Chase for me).

Hey Satman & Eieio59!

Looks like Muncie is trying to take over. Congrats Sam on all your accomplishments. I got to see you shoot some at the BCA tourney, not as much as I would have liked to, but you were really stroken! Eieio--I know you're good at making shirts but playing pool too? Just kidding. It's nice to see you two on this site.

Sam,
No shame in losing to Matlock. George B. told me that he thinks Dave is/was the best bar table player ever - pretty high praise. I suspect he can play a lick on a bigger table as well (though I've never seen him play).

Valley state is close. Any predictions? Will Muncie send any champions to snap it off? My guess is yes. We have evolved into a dominating force since that first year in Indy. Mainly in the team events. Not to take anything away from the other teams. Ready for battle. Sam
