Is Unsolicited advice sharking?

It doesn't sound to me like sharking. It sounds to me like you have some obvious flaws that can be easily corrected with some advice. Hence why everybody is trying to help. Hear them out with an open mind and put your ego to the side. At 468 speed you have a lot to learn still.

But at the same time, be wary of bad advice. Not all advice is good. So take it all in but also do your homework to make sure it checks out.
I play 1P at a higher speed than my fargo predicts based on those I regularly play. The obvious flaws of my game is in the decision making. When I am aware of the mistakes I am making, I do not need them pointed out. I take advice all the time, but I would prefer it after the game AND if I ask for it. There is no question I have a lot to learn but advice is better absorb when I am open to it.

I am a regular at my hall. I know almost all the dudes now. I am sure they know my speed (468). Went to the room today and my usual combatants were not there, while I was banging balls, one of the old cats I had not played before ask for a game. Sure! 1P it is. He is a 14-1 specialist and is very good, so I did not have high hopes but let’s get it on!

Held my own the first game then $hit the bed the next 2 but lost all 3. After our games he wanted to start giving me advice. Now I feel I am playing really bad or my negative self talk is causing bad decisions. As well I always try to evaluate my play after each game and I know I am making bad decisions.

Then after that series another comes up and wants to play 9 ball. I suggest 1P he agrees. Now I know I should own this player. Especially in 1P but now I am in my head. He takes all 3 games but to be fair, he played some really nice short rail shots after my sell outs and I don’t want to take anything from his play. He did not shark me but another regular I like and know started giving me advice. It was killing me!

So I know I am a whiny bitch right now, guess I will take 2 weeks off then quit.

I don’t start many threads but what say ye? How would you deal? Tips, tricks?
Just go jump under a bus. 😉

Your back giving you issues?

How come your tip makes that funny noise when you use english on the ball?

You feeling ok today? You look a little pale!

You look really tired!

Your tip or ferrule sounds loose!

Your back stroke seems a little jerky!

That stance has to bother your hips!
;)

Do you breathe in or out during the stroke? 😁

"I have a lot to learn but advice is better absorb when I am open to it."
that is usually true
except
if you are playing cheap enough 1 pocket
and you are amenable to it
i find a better player telling me "i would have shot this" right after my shot selection
lets me remember the layout
and see why or if i agree
his shot was better
jmho

I agree with this. I do this with some of the guys I play that are absolutely better than I am. I usually ask them before we play if this is ok with them. Sometimes I tell them I want to play then discuss after the game. Yesterday was just tough because of never playing those 2 dudes. I realize my poor performance pissed me off and was overly sensitive to the advice.

And it goes with out saying that just in starting this thread I am open to advice LOL and there is good stuff here. Thanks for the conversation fellas!

as we get older (myself included) we have earned the right to be crotchety once in a while (or more often)
