true. I use it too. I also just started using 91% alcohol and a paper towel, which works good as well. The shaft gets sticky fast regardless. I play on dirty bar tables and use a glove. If i didnt have the glove, id carry the cheap alcohol lens wipes in my case, as posted on page 1.Me, for several years. It works great. Never an issue.
A Defy shaft is a different animal due to the varnish like coating applied at the factory. It makes my Defy shaft my least favorite carbon shaft.I think the use of Pledge depends on the shaft’s coating. My Defy shaft was kind of tacky when I got it. Tried Pledge and it got even tackier with use. Sent it back to McDermott and they worked their magic and now I just use alcohol to clean it.
I've been working with carbon fiber since the 80s in fishing rod applications and have cleaned with alcohol and polished with pledge for over 30 years without issues. If a shaft is really dirty, use alcohol. If I want it to be slick, I use Pledge.I'm guessing the reason why Pechauer recommends Pledge and not denatured alcohol is because their shaft have a clear coat that creates a lot of friction, so unless you have a Pechauer shaft or another shaft with a similar surface, don't use Pledge to clean your shaft.
