Issues Blowing Up At The Tornado Open

BTW, the Billiard Buzz editorial brings up a question that's been bugging me: Why should added money depend on filling the field? It seems if you advertise "$10k Added" or whatever, you should have that money already available. The added money is not dependent on how much you collect in entry fees.

If is the standard custom that the added money is dependent on filling the field?

Haven't read the article yet, but I believe money added based on qty of entries is based on theory of more entries brings more spectators (spouses, girlfriends, family, fans), who will spend money on other things such as food, drinks, souvenirs, entertainment, etc..

More often than not but there are some with outright guarantees but id say they are in the minority.

No different than the insurance company not wanting to pay Earl the Pearl the million after the ten pack. Pencil pushing *****s.

This has been a very interesting thread!..The only person I know real well, and can relate to positively, is Jay Helfert..There are many others who make sensible posts, but there are so many more, who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about!..That is not surprising, given that this same subject comes up at least weekly, and the same ego driven 'know-nothings' participate, until it becomes a real chore to sift through their endless, boring rhetoric!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I know how to go about 'fixing' pool..But I do know, that unless we can find a way to all pull together, it looks like an exercise in futility!..Crooked promoter's, self-serving pros, and greedy con men, will always outnumber the good guys in pool!..Should we be shocked?..It is also that way in most every other sport in the world!..They are just better at keeping a lid on it, than us pool addicts!

Luckily, pool is a very small segment of society in general..What do we have, 50,000 pool nuts, beating the subject to death on these pool forums?..Imagine if we had the millions of followers, that the media attracts to the major sports in this country!
..Pool, like 3-cushion billiards, would have been completely dead 50 years ago!..Bottom line, If we can't control the negativity and bashing, among ourselves, what are the chances pool will survive the next 10 or 20 yrs.?..We are our own
worst enemy, when it comes to keeping it a 'niche' sport!..I'd like to think, it could be so much more!

PS. As for getting in the Olympics, you can't tell me that pool isn't more exciting to watch than curling or javelin throwing?
At the progress we are making, the most boring spectator sport in the world, Bowling (ugh) will likely get in before we do

PPS..Excuse me, while me and my girl have a 'drinking' contest!..They usually have an exciting climax.(or two) :D

People so dumb that they write something like "PS..Maybe the guy looking to invest the 500K in pool, should have a chat with Mike Sigel??? " like you wrote in the other "pool saving" thread should refrain from posting about how to save pool. Sigel was one of the most consummate "businessmen" ever in pool and if you don't know that then you should close your piehole.

Sigel would take that $500,000 so fast the guy wouldn't know where it went.

RBL

Sarcasm always did sail right over your head!..I know more about Sigel, than you know about all your 'dead porn sluts'!
..So shut your piehole!

Yeah, sure you do because you can learn a lot wearing the brown:p. If only I had a million dollars for everytime you blamed one of your dumb comments on "sarcasm" I would save pool myself.
