my new "A Pool Lesson with Jerry Briesath" DVDs showed up today!

Sorry that is all. I just had to share my excitement as my wife doesn't seem to appreciate just how amazing this is

Watched the first hour of disc 1.

First thoughts are: it is fantastic. Jerry explains everything in so much detail and then goes into some of the reasons why stuff is happening that it really hammers home the concepts

Hoping the remaining 3+ hours are as good. This is looking like $70 well spent :)

Now that we've hooked you in, your first task is to run around the pubs chanting, "One of us! One of us! Be one of us!", until you recruit at least 3 new pool players. Each person they recruit owes you a pint. It's kind of like a pyramid scheme, only we get paid in lager.

Jerry was there for a few days at the DEF Nationals in WI, he was great with the kids, and even some of the parents that came up looking for some help. He helped several kids immediately with a 15 minute lesson, one was able to draw about 1/2 table more than he ever could, another got better at taking time and evening out his stroke movements, etc...

Soon as my 12 yr old gets better at listening to instructional material I am going to get this set from Jerry.

Brieseth DVD

This is a great instructional set.
Jerry is great and the quality and presentation is very good.
Everyone can learn from this DVD.

Highly recommended.

Yep they are indeed amazing.

When someone explains WHY to me, as opposed to just saying "do this", it makes a huge difference in my ability to learn from them.

Example is Jerry's brief introduction to spin and WHY the ball will spin taking into account travelling distance over the cloth. I knew the basics but this makes me think I now grasp the concepts.

Loving every minute of these DVDs. Other than stance/stroke/grip lessons I think I am going to watch all three DVDs before working my way through them on the table. I reckon this will give me a broad understanding of the content and principles before I dive into practice.

Have just finished the first dvd of this series and all I can say is wow!

He (and Mark Wilson) make everything look so easy. The sections on speed control, hangers, tangents and position have opened my beginner eyes soooo wide.

Only downside is I am going to have to re-watch it all with a pen and paper and take notes!

Sounds great- but rememeber

Practice is the best way to achieve all the results. Pick a cue ,a table and practice, practice practice- play every game there is. 14.1 ,8,9,10, 15 ball ,banks, one pocket. Lessons ,video's bks are great knowledge. Corey and John say - with all the lessons, low deflection shafts. Deflection and squirt (are the nuts and bolts of Pool) Watch the Tar- interviews, the 8 ball match and 10ball match. They play on a tight diamond. Mark

Yep, I agree 100% but I am still trying to figure out "what" to practice.

I have these DVDs to try and sort my fundamentals and hopefully give me some insight into how I should structure my practice as opposed to just trying to run racks.
