Italian Conversion

I had the opportunity to convert an Italian cue for a local, Bernard. It was a fun little project. The cue had indentions and he wanted to leave all that, plus he liked the old look of the cue, didn't want the wood changed one bit so I added some phenolic and a 3/8 pin, cored it so the weight was 19.5, added a small 3.75 leather wrap for his hand. Also made a shaft. He stopped by the shop today to pick it up. Wasn't anything fancy, but a cool looking old cue with a nice hit. I love doing the old cues. Have a couple more Im working on now.

It was all his design, as you can tell Brad, there is no ivory. I did manage to swing the 3/8 pin. lol

The old Imperial cues were decent for he most part. Some that were painted instead of spliced. Looks like a fun project!

I just talked to Bernard, He directed me to this picture so I could see his new cue. He is very happy with the work. It looks like nothing I have ever seen before. Kind of interesting looking. I had a guy out in Washington do some Hoppe conversions and a Victor conversion, but that guy is not dependable anymore. What do you think of these?

Too bad

Too bad the guy from Washington is undependable - because he knows what he is doing. Good thing we all have Steve to turn to. I'm pretty careful these days. It's easy to get burned or left hanging for 2 or 3 years before you get your cue back - if you ever get it back!!!

italian conversion; REDUX

cue posted 12-1-14. I "rescued" this stick from a senior center, it was a bridge stick, I gave them another. I cut in half and sent to FT. PIERCE, FLA. the man had it almost 3 yrs .NOTHING. I finally, through coercion, got it back. I found STEVE ( Crossbones). he did the job in about a week. IMPECCABLE. bernard
