i am not pissed off about not recieving $5,000, well, it doesn't make me happy, obviously, however, that is not my focal point. my point is this~~~~~~ what type of firm are we dealing with here? they have the time to send e-mails on who is winning what qualifyer, and to tell everyone about qualifyers, and e-mails about how OLN will show this and that tournament, and on and on and on, but yet, when it comes to players being paid, they can't get an official massive well written e-mail out to the players?!!!!!!!!
this is clearly WRONG! if they wer'e a furniture store or a computer help line or any other type of business, they would have been shut down! my point is, ok, you didn't pay us at the site, the grand sierra resort, however, have a meeting right there and then, comfort us, e-mail us, the status, the u.p.s . tracking number, something hold our hand, make good on your mistake. right now by having lack of communication they are clearly alienating the entire pool public. the bad taste that is in my mouth is overwhelming. it's one thing to make a mistake,it's another not to immiedatly comfort the people you made the mistake with. the IPT has failed. where is the support? i see none what so ever. again, the checks haven't arrived, in reno, ok, we could be ok with that, but hey, keep us informed.

Bernie, this is the smartest post you've ever made on here.

I totally agree! Obviously, they're not doing good damage control. Why is that? are they not concerned about how the players and the fans are feeling? why the total silence?

or are they just busy running the qualifiers to care? if so, why is that more important?

Because people are forking over 2 grand to play in them....

exactly! and it seems they're going out of their way to push it to the pool players with promises of 100 grand guaranteed for next year's tour, even encouraging players to sign up for the early qualifiers because they would have an easier time....sounds kinda fishy to me, don't you think?

reminds me of something.....sounds like Fonzi.... ;)

They want people to sign up "early", because in a few weeks, if the players STILL have not gotten paid, they can atleast garner some decent money before the IPTname is turned into MUD.

Huh.

So you think in you smart brains, that after investing millions of dollars to IPT, Kevin is now trying to collect all the 2Ks from all the suckers, so he could still afford to eat? And at the same time making himself the biggest crook on earth?

Even he would do so (which is as likely, as you do have smart brains), he has still done to pool more good than you or other bad mouthers all together ever will.

You have to be kidding me, some of you people think it's a ponzi scheme? with pool players? give me a break. I could come up with better ideas for a ponzi scheme or MLM without even trying and targeting pool players wouldn't be one of them. Pool players are the most skeptical people in the world, heck even with real tournaments and payouts, players and pool enthusiast are already sounding the death knell. Pool players would be the last people on the face of the earth you would try to scam, many players don't even like to put up their own money, and he knows that.

Does anyone in their right mind think KT put up what 7 million+ (so far) to try to make it back with $2,000 dollar qualifiers? Come on, nobody in their right mind would ever think that. The qualifiers would never come close to even covering the purse let alone all the other tours expenses, venues, huge camera crew, top flight production company, website, etc. There are way better ponzi scams to try, yeah lets go after the lucrative pool playing community.

lets see, 2,000 dollars..... that would take over 3500 people to sign up just to break even, and thats with not paying out the 3,000,000 for the last tournament, once thats paid, he would need 5,000 entries to break even.

Sure the IPT could fail and some people trying to qualify could lose money, but thats not a scam, thats a poor business plan, or just not a viable market.

No, it might not be a scheme...but it IS a part (probably bigger than we originally thought) of the IPT's revenue.

Figure, there will be 100 qualifiers. If 10 players play in each, that's $20,000. Multiply that by 100 and you've got $2,000,000.

That's not chump change. I'm certain that the IPT was/is counting on a big, big qualifier turn out especially after their 2 real tournaments.

So far, the turn out of these 1st week qualifiers were pathetic. Worse than the 1st week of the NAO qualifiers.

It stands to reason that they thought they could get 10-16 players average per qualifier. They were getting decent numbers for the Reno tournament qualifiers, why wouldn't people pay $500 more than that qualifier to play for a "guaranteed" $100,000. Makes sense does it not? People paid $1,500 to play for $5,000..why wouldn't they pay $2,000 for a chance to be top 50 in a touranment of 250 for $100,000?

I don't know how much the fact that the IPT hasn't paid out for Reno is effecting the qualifiers. I know that if I was a player looking into it, I'd be backing off bigtime. That to me is a HUGE red flag. $2,000 is a lot of money to throw into a sinking ship....

No matter what, we've debated the IPT's qualifier money-making scheme. We've mostly all agreed that it is impossible for the IPT to survive on it or to depend on it. However, it is a PART of the IPT, especially early on when it isn't profitable or up to speed.

I dunno about you guys, but there's no way in hell that Dish Network or Emerson paid $1,000,000 for those ads. Not possible. I doubt their other "sources" of income can make up the difference for the lack of qualifier dollars. As a business owner, KT will try as hard as possible to not put in his own money. That's the key to some business, make money on other people's money.

Who knows if Loree or Sigel were paid for that exhibition? Who knows what's really going on?

The lack of payment is a huge stain on the IPT, one that they cannot afford - pardon the pun.

LOL, you seem to be "forum stalking" me. Have I hit a nerve Marvel? :D

Marvel,

KT is already a CROOK. He's a convicted felon. His entire fortune was made by LYING about products that don't work and suckering people into buying junk through his infomercials. He's a super snakeoil salesman.

Is the IPT a scheme? I don't think so. But I've worked for businesses that went out of business...and let me tell you - they all have the same characteristics when they have problems. When money is an issue, they hold off payment till they get money. In otherwords, you suckers (the players) aren't getting paid till you (the players) make some money for the IPT. KT's urged players to get them to get others to play in qualifiers. Aside from that, the IPT's success rests on the marketability of the players. LOL. To me, this has always been the biggest criticism I've had of KT. Pool players will never be like poker players and be interesting characters to watch on TV. If KT is going to sacrifice anything, it will be the players - because he views them as employees and a part of the IPT's expensed which he can control. He can do this by offloading part of the responsibility for the IPT's success on them.

Anyway, KT is a lying filthy crook. But everyone's put that aside because he claimed to be the messiah of pool. He's claimed to have sold it to Stanley Ho for $150,000,000.

If that's true - then what KT did, was create the perception (or the illusion) of profitability of the IPT. He convinced enough people, and key people like HO (supposedly) that the IPT is a sure-thing success.

It's like taking a run down beat up home, buying it, painting it, change out the rugs, and then selling it for a huge profit. It's still a crappy home, but by cleaning it up and making it look good it's preceived value went up.

Studies have shown that detailing a vehicle adds value to it in private sales, despite the fact that it is no better or worse.

Just sounds kinda fishy that right after KT announces that he is selling the IPT, all of a sudden people are not getting paid. I wonder how much profit KT is making from the sale? With his past, surely alot of people saw this coming....

.

Would you be good enough to share where this claim was made? The only thing I recall was a statement that there was a letter of intent, and I don't remember any specific dollar amount coming from any source other than some forum members.

If you listened to the players meeting at Reno, Kevin says and i may be off by a word or two "Insiders value the deal at 150 Million". This is certainly strange wording seeing as no one is more inside than him so go figure.

He already earned that title years ago!!! And what, exactly, has he done for pool aside from allowing a few players take home some decent purses?

If the IPT fails and the players do not get paid, he has succeeded in setting pool back decades, it will tale at least that long for the players to trust another new tour attempt. Thats what KT does, and he does really, really well!!!
