i can't be bothered with the wei table, it's too much brain work for me and i just don't have any patience to speak of, so i invented a system for us folks that want to describe shots, that you will see, is a fantastic way (if i say so myself) where you DO NOT NEED ANYTHING except the following info. i invented this system which you could call Bernie's~~ "imagine this system" or ITS for short. the main reason why i invented this system is because i was sick and tired of trying to explain a great shot i made last night, or hearing about a great shot someone else made last night, and they try to explain it, where the balls were, and my eyes start rolling in my head, confused, as to where the hell the balls ACTUALLY were!!!!! so i came out with this elementry system, ok here i go:
imagine yourself standing at the foot of the table, (where you rack e'm up) now once standing there this entire system works clockwise from here on in, to our left is a corner pocket, from here on in it will be known as pocket #1 or P1, now then, continuing up the left long rail the entire left long rail will be referred to rail A, now to get more specific, the very first diamond near us on the long left cushion is called A-1. the middle diamond is no longer the middle diamond it is now~~~ ANYBODY?????? you got it, A-2 now the third diamond up the long left rail by the side pocket is called A-3. the left side pocket is P2. continuing on after the side pocket, the next diamond is A-4, the middle diamond is A-5 and the very last diamond on the left long cushion is A-6. the upper left corner pocket is P-3. the upper short rail opposite from where we are standing, is cushion B therefore the upper left diamond is B-1 the middle diamond is NOT a diamond, it's the nameplate, but still we will refer to it as B-2. the last diamond on the short cushion is B-3. the upper right hand pocket is (you got it) P4. the first diamond on the upper left cushion is?? anyone?? C-1. the middle diamond is C-2 the diamond before the side pocket is C-3. the right hand side pocket is C-5. the diamond after P5 is C-4 the middle diamond is C-5 and the very last diamond on the long right cushion by where we stand is C-6. ok, now the lower right pocket is called P6. the diamond on the short cushion by where we are standing, the diamond on the right is D-1 the exact opposite diamond of B-2 is D-2. and the last diamond in this system is the lower left diamond on the short foot cushion and it's called D-3. now that i hope you understand this, let me give you an example to visualize, so you can SEE the cueball moving!! ok, i am playing 8-ball, i have 2 balls left one stripe the 11 ball and the game winning 8-ball. the 11 ball is at B-3 and off the cushion by a hair. the cueball is at B-2 and off the cushion by 4 inches. the 8-ball is at D-3. now that you understand my system, what english and what diamonds will or should my cueball take in flight??? don't read the answer, think first. ok, here is my answer, and see if you thought the same. i will apply 7:00 low left english, pocket the 11 ball into P-4, the cueball contacts cushion B, backs up and contacts around A-6 the cueball diagonally crosses the B-2/D2 line and then finally hits around C-5 and reverses it's english as the white dies down and lands beatifully at D-1 for an almost straight in shot for the 8-ball into P-1. now, with this simple system, we can say what great shot we did last night, without confusing the person we are talking to, and without having to go to the wei table. p.s. to fine tune it further, if a ball is inbetween D-2 and D-3 we shall say it's D-2 and a half.
ENJOY!!

Bernie... that makes my brain hurt... just use the wei table its much easier... :)

Bernie, I think the thing we all love about you is that you honestly believe this is a better system than WEI. :D

See you at Carom one of these days, old friend...

So.... I take it that Bernie actually knows Wei?

Good System

Your right about the "rolling your eyes" thing when someone tries to discuss their shots in person. I never listen to anyone that trys to have me visualize the shot the made, or missed... unless they have a pool table with balls handy. So this system is perfect for everyday chat... but like everyone else is saying.. A picture says a thousand words.
Easier to understand Wei table here, but not so easy to understand wei table at the bar.

hey steve, still on the 3-cushion billiards team?sorry people didn't like the system, but i do, chow cheers so long.

I aint readin' all that. Bernie, send me a PM. I'll personally help you with WEI. It's not hard. Really.

I tried to help him, but he got confused somewhere along the way. You will need to start with how to highlight....

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................where's the WEI table...........................

Bernie,
You've got a great sense of humor...that really cracked me up! Air pool will never die. I like to watch from across the room when some player is frantically waving his arm placing the imaginary balls in the air. He thinks the poor bastards he is with are listening but they really are just thinking "this guy has lost it"...LOL

These people never thought to use coins on a cigarette package ? Sheesh, what else is there to show someone a shot ! If you are really good with the coins you can even demonstrate shots this way ;)

Dave, who thinks the Internet pool world owes a huge debt of gratitude to Mr. Wei .... and there's nothing wrong with Bernies system either, it would work fine in the absence of computers, coins, cigarette packages, or pencil & paper.

Oddly enough, after reading posts from Bernie over the last year, I seem to understand this.

Tell Wei I said, "hello."
