Ivory ferrule hole

Hi all... just a quick question.. Today I've removed a sniper tip which delaminated from my new cue and the surprise to me was that the ivory ferrule presents a small hole right at the center.. is this normal?

yes its for relief so the epoxy doesnt crack the ferrule.
