Hi guys... i was just playing around with ideas.. but anyone know how a ivory handled cue (probably just a sleeve, cored with some wood) plays?

would the ivory have an adverse effect on the hit and resonance of the cue?

would it be durable? (eg, cracking, chipping, etc)

would a 3-segmented handle be better than a single segment with regards to durability and play life?

which cuemakers should i go for if i want an ivory handled cue made (aka which cuemakers can do a good one? lets cap it at around 4-5k usd)

I dont know about play but i have seen ivory handled cues and i beleive most of them where Paul Mottey, so that might be a good place to start....:)

I know of three Ivory handled cues that have cracked and heard about a fourth. Yes, they are cored. The ones I know about were not used as far as I know. $20,000 and up I might add. Seems coring the Ivory created stress cracks due to heat. These may not show up on an xray. Temperature change also has a negative effect on Ivory. I understand that TAD made one and it cracked in the shop and he will never make another one. I also do not think you can go back to the cuemaker because there are to many possible causes. Just MHO.

Ages ago I seen an all ivory and gold inlayed cue Mottey had....I think it was like 50 oz. or something near there....LOLz
