Ivory over Stainless Steel Joint? What does it hit/feel like?

I've never seen this type of hybrid joint blend before and pulled the following photo from a listing in the sale section for a Tascarella and was wondering if someone could provide some feedback to how the Ivory over Stainless Steel hits/feels in comparison to two similar joint styles with a 5/16-14 thread.

The first joint to compare, is solid stainless steel; the snapshot is from my Schon. The second joint to compare, is a stainless steel outer shell with a phenolic core; the shanpshot is from my Jacoby.
Thanks, Mark

The one on the left is the best cause it's my cue:thumbup: seriously the ivory over stainless is sweet.....it has that ping still but the ivory just softens it enough that it's not loud

I put a direct link to your posting, so it don't look like I was stealing your pic..

Regarding the hit, would you think its closer to the phenolic core of softer than that? I assume it can't be a stiffer/firmer as solid stainless steel?

Mark

I think the steel over the phenolic would be softer than the ivory over steel. But, I have never hit a cue that was steel over phenolic, so I cannot say for sure.

Its no problem, can use pic of mine you like for this example, I don't care at all:thumbup: I think it's a little harder than the phenolic core but less vibration if you can understand that....the ivory absorbs a lot of that. But it gives it a firm hit as well

I guess it depends if the Ivory is a harder than the phenolic? I did a quick search on youtube and found the following two videos, which showed hardness testing using a Shore D Durometer.

High level analysis showed West African Ivory scoring 91 and East African Ivory scoring 85, while Black Canvas Phenolic scored 92 and Black Linen Phenolic scored 94. It looks like Ivory is slightly weaker, but the tests are close.

It's what Tony Scianella of Black Boar Cues puts on his high end stuff...good enough for me...will probably never find out, lol. Seriously, you don't really know how it feels until you shoot with it, but I bet it's nice.
:p

Yep... that's what I thought. Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen this joint before and there isn't that many players toting a 2K+ cue for league night to try it out.
