Guys, any good/bad reviews or personal opinions on J. Pechauer Cues? Been itching to buy one of these, but just wanna know what you think.

I'm thinking his line is at least way better than a Lucasi Custom Cue.

What you think?

Thanks

Solid cue in my experience. The Pro series cues are built to last a lifetime. I like the unique joint pin as well. If you like that stiff, steel jointed hit, I dont think you can go wrong with a Peach.

Great cues, I have played with one of his older signed player cues and it hits very solid.

I owned a pec18. I can say they have good quality. My Pechauer had more a stiff type of hit. Many players prefer that type of hit. I always received good feedback when I showed it some pro players from around here. The only thing they didn't like was the deflection of the shaft and they told me to upgrade to something like a 314², Universal LD shaft, whatever. But it didn't seem to bother me. It felt good.

I've shot with lucasi for the last 3 years, I recently bought a pechauer. Its the signed pro series (I'm told the pro series are signed, and the lower end models have a jp on the buttcap but i'm not 100% on this). I love the weight balance of this cue. I think it hits far better then the lucasi. It does have a bit more deflection while using a harder stroke, but it doesn't take long to get used to. I may still try out an ob1 shaft on it. Undecided at the moment. All in all though, you can't go wrong with one.

Yes it is. I do not think that Pechauer and Lucasi are in the same league though. I'd say that the Pechauers come closer to a Schon, than a Lucasi.

I think the first post you got was right on the money. As far as production cues go, Pechauer has become my favorite. I'm comparing ot to Predator, Schon and the higher end Joss cues. I won a new Pro series Pechauer...the black plain jane in a raffle. It came with a Predator 314-2 shaft and I ended up liking it better than my all-predator 4K3 or the Schon I once had with an OB1 shaft. These Pechauers are very solid hitting. I've heard that its because of their construction approach to the A joint, when I called Pechauer to purchase one of their shafts. I did , but it plays much better than with the standard Pechauer shaft.
I also like the balance of the Pechauer with the 314 shaft. It isn't as butt heavy as the Predators or the Schons (again, I am talking about these cues with a laminated shaft...not the original Schon or the older Joss with a Joss shaft. All nice cues...solid and accurate, but this Pechauer, 314-2 combination is th nicest hitting production cue I've played. Compared to most of the Schons, which are generally considered at the apex of production cue quality, the Pechauer holds it's own as far as fit and finish and with the 314-2 it plays very firm and is dead-nuts accurate. It's also an easy cue to play with... really easy to move the cue around the table. Thats probably a function of the 314 shaft, but the Pechauer butt is a nice well made butt....the joint, finish all top quality. And one area I think Pechauer really is better in my opinion is their patented "speed joint". It takes just a few turns more than the uni-locs that you'll find on most 5/16 stainless joints, but it never loosens up as I've found that uni-locs do some times. With my 4K3 I'd always find myself giving the shaft a turn just to make sure that the joint hadn't loosened. The Pechauer speed joint is tight fitting and never loosens up. And it doesn't have the 14 threaded pin that Schon still uses, so it's mush faster to tighten the joint up than the Schon. The pin goes directly into the shaft wood and the 314-2's that are used for the Pechauer joint has a brass pilot surrounded in phenolic. All in all it's the best all-round stainless steel 5/16th joint I've played. The other Pechauer benefit is the lifetime warranty, which, from what I've heard is backed uo with no-questions-asked by the company. So I wouldn't hesitate going with a Pechauer. Incidentally, the standard pechauer shaft is a good one....as good as a schon, in my opinion...but the 314-2 / Pechauer is a really good combo if you like the point and pocket /very low deflection type of performance. Seyberts has put together a Pechauer line of cues that uses a Predator shaft and considering the expense of the 314's they are priced really well for quite a bit of cue. This combination and pricing really puts it in an entirely different category than any Lucasi that I know of. A friend of mine purchased my Schon/ OB1 cue and tells me he definitely prefers my Pechauer. In fact he just ordered a 314-2 shaft for the really nice STL-9 Schon I sold him.

Thanks all for the feedback. Absolutely nothing but good things to say about the Peach. O.K. let the ordering begin.

Go "Saints or Colts" -

J. Pechauer cues are the most under rated production cues made today.

If you are near a dealer go and look at a few and I doubt you can find any flaws in them at all. Top notch work.
Go to the Pechaure website and look how they are made.

If you dont like the hit, the shaft can be re-tapered or even replaced with one of the new low deflection shafts from OB or Predator.

I would choose them over ANY imported cue.
Not just because of the quality and price but service is available (if ever needed) from the factory right here in the good old USA.

old JP model

I just got an older JP (meaning JP logo lower end; instead of pro series). It has the same joint as the big pin McDermotts into wood thread shaft. It plays very nice with a soft hit instead of stiff ss joint hit.

I may have to replace the tip because the remaining tip base level size is less than dime. Actually, could use a re-finish too since the butt finish is spotty.

Maybe I will keep it as is for its old time/worn/used look.

After 25 years I have retired my "Break Cue" the Clay Etheridge Showcase Custom Hustler Cue. I have purchased a Pechauer. I know what kind of a hit I like,I know I will be breaking very hard,I need to have confidence in the performance. I have always liked the quality of Pechauer Cues. The hit is closer to a Schon than a Nova, stiffer than a Viking Stainless Steel Joint, and has great shaft response like a McDermott. You will keep this cue for a long time I am certain. Good Luck.
