EDDIE (to Charlie)
Hey, how much are we ahead?

CHARLIE
Approximately? One thousand bucks.

EDDIE
Fats, let's you and I shoot a game of pool for a thousand dollars a game.

Fats hesitates for a moment, then reaches in his pocket for some bills.

FATS
Preach! Go down and get me some White Tavern whisky, a glass, and some ice.

EDDIE
Preacher! Go on down and get me some bourbon. J. T. S. Brown. No ice, no glass.

Really hard to find that stuff. I like Wild Turkey on the rocks when it comes to bourbons. Wild Turkey also has a fantastic liquer with honey in it that is sooooo damn smooth and is the perfect after dinner/relaxation drink.

Also Woodford's Reserver, another great bourbon. I wish I could find JTS in stores but I never can.

im pretty sure they sell it here in va......seems like last time i was there they had it but it was only in the 1/2 gallons. Woodford reserve is some good stuff.....pricey but smooooooth, true sippin whiskey. My fav is probably george dickel though.

Next time you're in VA, check the ABC stores for Copper Fox Whiskey. It's a Virginia-made whiskey (so not properly a bourbon). It's produced near Culpeper, aged in applewood barrels, and it's fantastic. Definitely a sippin' whiskey - not to be mixed with anything but ice.

Does anyone know where you can get it other than ordering it online from the UK?

I was told that LeNell’s in Brooklyn, NY carried it but they don’t ship.., I saw it listed on their website but when I called she said she was not sure if she had any in stock and that only people who like the movie buy it.

It is currently (still) made by Heaven Hill Distilleries in Kentucky. It is not their premier label, but it is NOT something you should be re-importing from the UK.

For you trivia buffs: does anyone know where to get what Fat's ordered?

A buddy of mine has brought me several bottles when he goes "home" to Ohio. He's usually in the Dayton area, so I'm assuming that's where he finds it. I've posted a picture of a bottle I have in a "Color Of Money" thread in the Keith McCready section:http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=17952&page=2
There is a place in Houston where you can buy it by the 1/2 gallon for $14.43.., that sounds pretty cheap!

Spec's Liquor Warehouse
2410 Smith Street
Houston, TX 77006
(713) 526-8787

I actually called but they only carry it in the 1/2 gallon size.., I was hoping I could pick up a bottle or two in something like a quart size just for a conversation piece but I'm having a hard time finding it here in New England or anywhere online...

Bulleit is pretty good for the money, but I still prefer makers mark. Where I am makers is a few dollars more per bottle but I think it is better. IMO makers is the best whisky per dollar. It isn't the best whisky in the world, but might be the best value. I like some malts, but those are often expensive. Bourbons can be more expensive than makers but not much better. Bookers is better but is a lot more expensive. I think makers stands up well to bourbons like knob creek or woodford that are more expensive. I have not found one as good for the price. When they brought bulleit to our market they were selling 50ml airline bottles for $1 and were selling a 750 ml bottle for 19.95. I tried an airline bottle for $1, but was too embarassed to buy 15 airline bottles for 15 instead of the bottle. Not wanting to be a nit cost me about $5.:)

Where are you from ...???? There are not to many places in southwest virginia i have not gone. And its funny you said woodford... I guy had a glass of that on the rocks last night at the pool room.. i could smell it from across the table...i asked him what it tasted like..he offered me a sip..i dont really drink and have not for quite some time..but i took a swig...can you tell im a country boy...it taste like Jim Beam...except that Jim Beam has a bit of a sweeter taste..not bad though ...very smooth. and George Dickel...my God only people from where i live drink Dickel..you sure i havent gotten drunk with you Scottycoyote...I have turned a few up with a bunch of people in Mehherin, Farmville, Brunswick county Blackstone, Crew, Burkeville, Victoria, Kenbridge, Southhill, Lynchburg, Rice, Appomatox, and many other places in Southside Va..

Sidenote on J.T.S. Brown

I was in Louisville for the BCAPL event last week. When I went downtown to walk around with some friends, I walked by an old ratted out husk of a building whose rusted metal doorway rocker was J.T.S. Brown and Sons.

Pretty neat.

I believe the quote was "Preacher! Go on down and get me some bourbon. J.T.S. Brown, bonded. No ice, no glass." (Bonded bourbon is 100 proof)

It is smooth. But, I got into a fight with that Turkey last Feb at South Padre Island and got beat up pretty badly. I wasn't the same for about a week.

When I 1st tried Bulleit I was amazed. Pretty good. Then when I found out how economical it was I was even more amazed. Pretty good stuff for the price. But if I had my choice- its Bookers or Blanton's.

JTS Brown

I'm the "buddy" who gets JTS Brown at Arrow Wine in Kettering, Ohio.
I'm going there 9/16/06.
Who wants some?
Should I bring a case to the AZ forum room at the Derby?

I recently submitted a query on the Heaven Hill Distilleries website;

There are many of us in the Pool & Billiard community that would like to
know where we can purchase J.T.S. Brown Boubon..., Any suggestions?..,
Anywhere online that you know of?.., Is it still produced?

Heaven Hill's response;

Dear Dana,

Thank you interest in Heaven Hill's bourbons and I'm sorry there was no
response after your first email. JTS Brown, an 86 proof bourbon, is not
available in your area, or anywhere online that I am aware of. We do have a
bourbon that is the same in proof and should be quite similar to the JTS
Brown. This is our Evan Williams Black Label, which is available in your
area.

If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Jessica Gilbert
