Jack Justis Case

So here is possibly a dumb question.

I'm thinking of buying a new Jack Justis 2X4 case made to my specs. But, I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on a $900-$1000 price tag for a case.

I'm a bit of a cue collector, I have something like 29 custom cues now ranging from $500 to in the thousands. My everyday shooter is something like $3000. Spending money on a cue is no issue for me. But, I just seem to be having a hard time justifying an expensive case.

Should I look at it in the same light.... as an investment and something I will get quality use out of?

What do you peeps think? Quit being stupid and just do it???? That's the way I'm leaning. But I keep thinking that I could take that $1000 and go to Vietnam or Cambodia for 5 days and meet some interesting short women.

Who knows the answer?

I have 2 of them. Contemplating a 3rd as we speak. I hold on to my Justis's tighter then I do my cues. You cant go wrong with justis. I say pull the trigger. Jack and his wife are two great people, you won't be disappointed.

I just talked to him about an hour ago and he did seem to be a pretty friendly fellow. Never have heard anything bad about him or his cases. I've always heard they were great and very very desirable.

Thanks, I think I am going to fill out the order form and stroke the check. Hell, it's only money I guess!

Case

I don't think a 2 x 4 from Jack would cost 900-1,000 dollars. If you play with a 3,000 dollar cue, then spending 25-30% of that on a case, I would say, is justified. Although, with as many cues as you have, I would get a 3 x 5/6 so I could carry a 'backup' player.

I was going to get the bigger case but I play so close to the house that every place is in walking distance. That's the beauty of living in Seoul. It's either walking or taking the subway. So, I want the lighter case because it will get carried a lot.

Besides, every one of my teammates uses a decent custom cue for the most part so if I really needed a back-up, I could borrow one of there's for a rack or two.

And you're right... If I'm spending that much on a case, that is only 25%-30% of the cost of the cue it has in it. That's pretty reasonable to look at it that way.

I have a Jack Justis case and love it. A few people where I live have them as well and have never had any trouble with them. I think it is money well spent.

Ummm....the answer? Hmmm...........I've heard a $1000 goes a lot farther than 5 days with short women in Vietnam and Cambodia. lol

Seriously Mr Justis makes some beautiful cases,...uhh.... and what I said about short asian women too.

Since you are already in Seoul, I know that you already know quite a few interesting short women...lol.

Say hello to the girls at the "flower shop." LOL.

Buy the case and spend a lot less going to Itaewon.

Greg when did you move to Korea? Hows the local action?

Moved here just over three months ago and so far... there really is no local action. For the most part, Koreans only play billiards (4 balls). The only gambling I've been able to find is playing for drinks or $5 or less. Nothing really even worth my time. I've put the word out that I want bigger games but we will see how things go.

On a side note, the majority of my team can't live without my Varney Break cue. Thanks Mr. Varney!!!! That thing is phenomenal and I wouldn't sell it for anything. Breaks really really well but when I breaking 9 ball, it absolutely destroys the rack. Most of the time, I'm making 3 balls.

Hope all is well with you.

Yes, there are plenty of them here. I try to stay away from Itaewon... not the kind of element I like.

Think I will buy a new case. Think I will.....

I've owned 2 Justis cases and I liked them, but I ended up selling both of them. The players where I live don't use nice cues and cases and most of them don't know quality from junk. I felt like I was a fish out of water carrying a 7 hundred dollar case to play when my case was worth twice what any cue in the house cost. I use a cheaper case now and nobody even notices.
