Hey guys,
I just got a jacoby custom cue.... one of the jesse james models and am getting a jacoby hybrid shaft with it... good choice for a custom?

Jacoby is considered a semi-custom shop, as they do a production line and then you can order a true custom from them as well. Jacoby's are typically solidly built cues, and are popular in the Mid-West.

As to whether or not it's going to be a good cue....only you will know that when you play with it. Not every cue is made for every player...that's why there are so many cue makers and styles of cues.

I'd wager you'll love that Jacoby.

Dave Jacoby let me shoot with one of his cues on display at Derby City last January, and it was absolutely fabulous.

Wish I could remember now exactly what it was. The hit was almost magical. I hated to give it back.

I just sold one on the bay a super fancy one and it didnot pull but 1/2 wholesale/ but i hit some ball with it and it was fantastic!!it was also a jesse cue and the fanciest!!if it plays like that one you are going to love it!!

Dave and Brandon- Have a Super business-

Dave and his son- Have won many Cue maker awards! He builds in the neighbor Hood of 12 different cues with 5 different shaft Tapers, on Top of the New Shafts- They are building a shop just do do the shafts in. Edwin Reyes made a er240 shaft, A cue maker in Calif taught jacoby, and other cue makers, the New method . A good friend just stopped by the house on the way back from Chicago- Mark

I have personally bought at least a dozen high-end Jacoby
Customs from Dave at the Las Vegas BCA Shows over the past
ten years.

Each and every one was a Masterpiece and they all played great.

You will be pleased with your purchase.

I've got two, both customs and great cues. One is an 09 cocobola with malachite and veneers. Use a Lucasi LD shaft with it. Sharp points.

Other is one of his early creations. Great cue, neat design with lots of detail, hits well, but obviously done on a CNC machine as all the work cosists of all rounded curves and points. Original shaft hits well.

You should be well pleased. FYI, no cue out there is bringing any money right now.

Only thing I worry about with a Jacoby is whether his "production" cues will drag down the value of his true customs.

Jacoby

Nice cues. But I had a nice custom from him and the finish on it started to crack, so I sent it to them and they wanted 220 bucks to refinish. I paid it, but I'll never deal with them again . Im in the auto business dealing with auto finish and other stuff and the crack in the finish was definately from not prepping it right in the first place.
