Jakub Jokub- what do we think?

Anyone else followed the European 10 ball
This guy won by calling his opponent when he took the ball out of the pocket whilst the white was moving (barely). And earlier called him for moving the ball in hand white around with the tip of his cue.
I know both are fouls to the letter of the law but there is one thing accepting the win because the ref calls it and another to actively call it out.
Don’t know how he can hold his head up high after that?

i think he was being a fkn idiot. if the ref calls it it's one thing, but this was just nitty

he even fist pumped after knocking in the re-spotted 10b with ball in hand.
Yeah. He played one of the polish guys afterwards and the pole wouldn’t shake his hand, either at the beginning or the end. Can’t remember who it was

Taking a ball out of the pocket while the cue ball is moving is no big deal unless you interfere with the movement.

But no one in a serious tournament should be moving the cue ball with the tip of their cue. That one's a mortal sin.

There were 3 events.
First one was Aleksa with ball in hand trying to play far ball over the table. Realizing he can play it from position closer without the need to reach out that much, he pulls the the cueball towards himself with the shaft, and stops it with his tip.
Jakub was out of his self when he saw that, and refere was chilex dude. He was up 6:3 in race to 8, and pants full of shit obviously.

Second event, after potting the 10, Aleksa puts a hand in the pocket takes the balls and place them on the table while cue ball was crawling in the middle of the table. Referee calls foul, Jakub shots the 10, and was like fak yeaah with squuezed fist :D

Third event, same as second with addition that Aleksa pulled out but didnt put the balls on the table before cueball stopped. Ref gave him "are you serious" look but called nothing. Jakub was out of him self and started whining like a baby. In the end, after consulting with someone ref called loss of frame.

He got a question:
- Do you realy wanna win like this?

His acts answered on that question.

Aleksa's clumsiness, poor officiating and class A sportsmanshiT from Jakub. Thats all we saw.

In the medals ceremony, when entering the podium he didnt congratulate 3rd place winners while all other players did.

Today, in 8ball match Wojchech didnt want to shake hands with him nor before nor after the match. That speaks a lot.

One thing that I'm puzzled with is why Jakub didnt play a ball in hand on second faul but did on first?
What does the rule says? Loss of frame or ball in hand?

so what rules do you go by in a tournament. just the ones your opponent thinks are not to be followed.

and what ones do you call on him. just the ones that he and the crowd who roots for him want.

There's a lot worse for cash. Not a chess guy but I believe most of chess is that kind of hustle. The recent Candian masterstroke that ruined an American Oly hopeful (which IMO cost 'em dearly) is another. Lawyers are prolly worse. :ROFLMAO:

using the rules of a game is also part of a winning strategy. how you use them may be a refection on you.
or lead to a perception.

I didn't watch this and don't know what rules they were using. But you may not be aware of this WPA rule:

1.6 CUE-BALL IN HAND
When the cue-ball is in hand, the shooter may place the cue-ball anywhere on the playing surface (see 2.1 Parts of the Table) and may continue to move the cue-ball until he executes a shot (see 2.19 Shot). Players may use any part of the cue-stick to move the cue-ball, including the tip, but not with a forward stroke motion.

He was whining because of the tip foul even after the match. And rules clearly say tip allowed with no forward motion, which was not made.

As At Large said, no foul on moving the CB with the tip in the manner done here.

The taking balls out before the CB stops (even without anything touching the CB) has been discussed here before. It just isn’t in the WPA rules as I read them. IIRC it is an EPBF interpretation of the rules (or perhaps a some rule of their own). This interpretation has infected the Predator events which seem to be staffed by EPBF trained refs.

I looked at their website and I could find nothing that sets out this rule/interpretation (including, for example whether the foul is placing the balls on the table, or touching the balls in the pocket or even reaching into the pocket). Margarita Fefilova said on Facebook that in a Scotch Doubles Predator match Tyler was penalized for reaching into the pocket. IMO if they are going to make up stupid rules the least they can do is publish them so we know exactly what they are.

I couldn’t find the earlier discussion, which did include some thoughts from Bob Jewett IIRC.

As an aside, I knew of this stupid rule (as a North American amateur). How does Aleksa (a European Pro) not know of it? And how does he take any chances the second time?
