When Jim and I collaborate on a cue, I like to think we hit'em out... here is a little number out of snakewood/ebony/ivory and pink ivory... This cue has it all... ivory points, fancy ivory rings everywhere, beautifully done inlay work, mitered veneer boxes and barbells...

Also the points are recuts, holly and pinkivory...

And it is for sale.... Retail is $ 6,000.00

One more thing.. the cue is getting a lizard wrap and will be done next week.

Ivory joint and butt cap as well...

Joe

That cue has so many great design features in it, it could be used to teach a class in cue design. Opening up the inlay is a great touch. As is keeping all the inner points the same length. I especially like the diamonds cut thru the black ovals in the ring work. Very dimensional. Just enough snake to give it an exotic twist. All you want-to-be's take a close look.
This is how it's done.

Nice cue building/detail.......but a little too busy for my tastes.

Russ.........

Same here. Don't get me wrong, the cue is a beauty. Don't have 6K to part with as well. Pretty sure, you'll sell this cue fast.

The ringwork is what I really like in this cue. Put that ringwork on all points on a PJ PinkIvory(F&B) with Ebony handle and it will be really neat.

Ditto.......what a sweet cue. Snakewood and pink ivory....who woulda thunk it ??

I have stated this before, and caught a little flack for it, but I will say it again....in the last couple of years, Mr White has done some of THE most innovative inlay designs and work...and IMO, is bringing the Mottey shop into the 21st century in a big way.

Yet again, a wonderful and innovative use of your basic peacock inlay. What I find so great about his work is that he can do these innovative designs and yet they still have a very 'classic' feel about them. I think that both Joe and Sean will understand what I mean...at least I hope so! ;) I also happen to believe that he is doing some of the nicest ring work...love the multiple components and shapes!

People ask all the time who is going to be the next great cuemaker to invest in....I really do not think that you can go wrong with one of Mr White's cues...especially when they look like this!

Thanks for the eye candy, Joe!! :D

Joe, that cue is absolutely freakin' beautiful!!!

Thanks for all the kind words. I wanted to mention that this cue started out as a "plain" cue, don't they all. Anyways the rings and the small sharp diamonds need the ovals to showcase the horizontal point, without those it just bleeds ivory to ivory. So the rings are a Mottey shop design. The open inlays, were first featured a couple of years ago and they take a lot of time as you can see, they are all sharp pointed. Plus they are all multiple pieces, so to see them in snakewood, you know they are all precision. One thing that I wasn't aware of was the dots over the small points. This may seem insignificant to the untrained eye, but they do line up with the barbells, so the "dot" aspect stays on the same plane. A subtle but nice inclusion. The windows are veneered and mitered holly and pink ivory. The small points are solid ivory and don't look out of place in the scheme of the cue. This cue has great execution, but you should expect no less from the Mottey shop.
