any one know what to jamie baraks-wilson we used to see him playing and doing good in the pro tournys and now you dont see him at all any more. did he quit playing or what...i was hoping that he would have tried to qualify for the ipt...

Jamie won the Midwest 9 ball event here, also known as the 3rd Bobby Wells Memorial tournament, on June 24-25th. I watched the final matches of the tournament.
After being put into the 1 loss side by 'Lil Steve' Rector, who won the winners side, Jamie came back and double dipped Steve in the final match.
56 Players were entered into the tournament. K.C. Massey, Kansas City, took 3rd, and Joey Gray, OKC, took 4th. Many people were impressed with Joey Gray's play during the tournament. He is an up and coming young player.
Jamie played near flawless Pool in the final match, including making some impressive jump shots. One jump shot, he jumped over 2 balls on the long rail (one on each side of the side pocket), made the 1 ball, and got perfect
shape on the 2 ball. I don't remember the score of the first set, but the 2nd set was 9-6 in Jamie's favor. He was most impressive for being a young
player. They had Jamie down as being from Rockford, Ill..

Keep the reports coming. How is Olathe going? I would favor James to win it as well.
with 102 players its a brutal field. Arguably about 8-10 guys are battling for the win. Matlock seems to be in-stroke, James road partner Chad Vilmont is hard to bet against ever, Jesse Bowman, Josh Johnson, Buddy Hall, Brian Jones (who won both the one-pocket and the 9-ball at the last one), James Walden. Should be a great show.

from what I hear Brian J. is in the Finals on the winners side. Harriman and Hall are in the LB finals.
for the 9ball baraks won his 1st two and Vilmont already has quality wins over Darren Everett and the guy that beat Boweman 1st round.

I had the pleasure of going out to eat with the both of them last May in Vegas... those two were made for each other! He loves her dearly & is true to her.... he gets my vote of respect for that alone. 
Baraks won the Midwest 9 ball event in Alton IL a couple weeks ago also. The local guys held up pretty well against a strong field, I think 4 of the final 8 were local guys who play out of Riverbend Billiards in Alton.
I wasn't there but I talked to a guy who said Baraks has an excellent and consistent break.

I would assume that Mark had a very big influence on his game. Also, growing up in the area that he did, there was always some champion caliber player to play. I remember when he was coming up, it was obvious that he could play great, it just seemed to be between his ears that needed working on. As he has come up to 30 years old, it seems to have all come together nicely for him. For me personally, around 30 something just clicked inside of my head and I just figured out how to play at a higher level with no change of any kind in my "playing ability". As a matter of fact, I began playing less, never practicing and not gambling much either. And my eyesight started down hill. And in spite of this, I guess with age comes maturity and experience and that was all I needed. I guess?

The only time I met him I thought he was just rude.
Ironically, I was just discussing that with a couple of folks in Peoria.
He is a very good player though. I saw him finish second (It may have been third, I don't recall exactly) to Efren in the 2004 DCC 9-ball division.

He was voted "2005 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR" by the UPA. I found Jamie to be nothing but first class each time I have had the opportunity to see him. I understnand he will be playing in the US Open in September.

im sure jamie did learn alot from mark but from what i hear and i dont remember which one it was but either efren reyes or fransico bustamanta used to be stacked by mark and lived with the wilson so im sure he learn alot there too
