Last months results:

Once again we had a GREAT time at the Dec 9 $30 9ball tournament put on by Cue & A Billiard Promotions and Clicks Waco. 48 players made their way to Waco to compete for this months event.

Top picks for this months tournament were returning 2 time Champion Charles Holan of Houston, Returning runner up Jay Calhoun of Austin, Tony Barrington from Tyler, locals Carl Ray and Garry “thrill” Hill.

Finishing 7-8 were straight shooting Louie Pacheco from Ft Worth and Charles Holan of Houston. Both played very well! Good job guys!

Coming in 5-6th was “young gun” Adam Austin, who’s game is really maturing fast, and Jimmy Davis who always plays very well. Way to go to these two local guys.

The stars lined up “just right” and 4th place went to yours truly, Ray Hansen. I guess it’s true that if you wait long enough the sun will shine almost anywhere.

Our third place finisher was Daniel Herring from Ft Worth. Daniel played very well. I believe we’ll be seeing him with the title real soon!

David Parker, “young gun” from League City area came in hot after playing almost all night! David defeated James Callahan of Mckinney 7-2, Bobby Comgys from the DFW area 7-4, Louie Pacheco of Ft Worth 7-2, Charles Holan of Houston 7-5,and local “young gun” Adam Austin 7-6 for a shot at the “hot seat”.

Jon Rollins of the Dallas area started out the day with a bye, then defeated yours truly 7-5, Lawrence Garza from Dallas 7-6, Tony Barrington from Tyler 7-4,and Jimmy Davis from Waco 7-2 for a spot in the “hot seat” match. Rollins torched the “hot seat” match as he won it 7-0! David was not discouraged though as he defeated Daniel Herring 5-2 for another shot at Jon in the race to 9 Final. Jon proved to be too much fire for David to put out, as he would close it out 9-3! Jon Rollins would be our new Champion.

Special thanks to Jim Ashby, manager of Clicks Waco, for hosting this event. Thanks to Lewis Jones of PKL Promotions and the Fast Eddies 9Ball Tour for their support. Lewis & Paul do a great job with their events and are an inspiration to me. Tim Byrum of Lonestar Billiards will no longer be providing cue repair and sales as it became too much strain on his schedule.I would like to thank Tim for several months of support and some great work.It will done by James Hanshew of Hanshew Custom Cues beginning at the January tournament.

1st – 1260 + Entry paid to the Fast Eddies 9ball Tour Jan 2007.
2nd – 635
3rd – 390
4th – 240
5-6th – 60/60
7-8 – 30/30

This is Zach from Denton. I'll be there next month after my poor performance last month.

Your first opponent did get 5-6th, You were supposed to win the second. You are still the champion at picking the winners!

Look forward to seeing you in Jan.

Women Players

Currently we DO have the same qualifications for women as men. We do realize that this is not realistic. There will be some changes soon. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the inquiry.

You are correct

At some points I don't understand the calcutta. I heard even you bet yourself like $10. and you win the tournament and no one bet on you... you win the whole thing. and someone bet on you. Its your choice to give him some money or don't....

Anyone clear it for me. THanks.

Auction

The players are auctioned. There is no betting allowed. This is a seperate prize fund for 1st thru 4th place. Widely used in golf tournaments.Participation is strickly optional.

Hope to see you in January.

VietSoClassic,
You have a auction for players that is seperate from the tournment. People bid on players. If no one bids on you, you can bid on yourself for $10. If someone does bid on you, THEY have the option of letting you get half of the bid, in turn getting half of the winnings of the calcutta. But they don't have to let you have half of the bid. They can just pay the bid and get all of the winnings. ( if there are any) Nearly all bidders will let you have half, its good pool etiquette. So in theory, if you are a unknown, and and no one bids on you, you can buy yourself cheap and make a killing on the calcutta plus the winnings from the tournement, IF you win the tournement.

I'm assuming the ring game has the same requirements as the tourney? (ie. no 5-6 or higher finishers) Also, is it going to be 9 ball or 10 ball?

Correct

Must qualify for the tournament to play in the ring game. The ring game will be 10 ball.

I'm just pulling your chain. I feel you have a great thing going and will support it in any way I can.

IMO, pool is starting to wake up again in Texas.
