Just watched Jasmine Beat Alison, on ESPN2. I like the way she Play's! I must admitt I hardly watch any matches anymore and I hadnt seen Jasmine play. I am very impressed with her style and concentration!


I do have a question, I checked on WPBA and she isnt even Ranked, 1-64 and she just beat the # 1 ranked player for a title, Shouldnt she be ranked in the top 10?

I also want to comment on the hair styles and clothes some of these women are wearing, while I understand they are all business, They seriously lack sex appeal, maybe that is the goal, I dunno, I think Jasmine would be a hottie but geez he hair is pulled so tight and man like no wonder she looks angry! lol

Maybe Im just to stupid to understand style and fashion but what ever happened and what is wrong with dressing sexy while playing pool?


Id like to watch for the sake of pool, but these are women playing, and I am a Man, so sometimes a lil eye candy help's keep me glued to the set. It was very exciting, but even Alison will smile on occasion...

She hasn't played in enough WPBA events to quilify for a "rank" on the tour. Actially, I believe she isn't even a WPBA touring pro and has to win qualifiers to play in WPBA events. Anyone?
 
This is a rerun, BTW. Jasmin has gained a lot of fans from her performance in this event. Personally, I don't get it. She's a solid, talented player, but so many bandwagoners were ready to claim her as the best in the world. She's no Allison yet.
 
I saw the match in person....she has a very solid game. If/when she comes to the US, Allison and Karen will have some company at the top....
 
BTW....she's playing this weekend in the WPBA event in San Diego. She drew Jeanette Lee the first round and lost 9-4.

Foul on all balls this year and hair or clothes touching a ball is a foul. Plus hair intruding into you vision differently at different times can affect you concentration. Two strong reasons to think twice about long or loose hair. I think we will see more tight clothes but not necessarily more attractive clothing. The ladies are there to win first and looking good, although it should be a consideration, is a distant second as it should be.

Jasmin certainly has a game face. She may learn to relax a bit but it is doubtful. She and her coach put great emphasis on mental fitness and I suspect that means staying focused for the duration of a match and not letting anything intrude on her mental space. This may not showcase that she is a pretty young lady but as we saw, it lets her perform under tremendous pressure. That was her second time under US TV lights and she performed much more impressively than she did the first time, I assume only a day before in the semi's. A very professional and capable young lady.

Yes Jasmine could be a hottie.
Yes I liked Jasmine's concentration as well.
but gimmie a break...she looked like she just ate a bushel of lemons before the match.
God help us all if she continues to play pool like that and learns how to smile while she is doing it.

I tried it once, and the other guys called me all sorts of rude names. :eek:

I have seen more than one ESPN match wherein Jeanette Lee was dressed so sexy that she lost games. She more-or-less sharked herself by playing in high heels and an outfit that required constant adjustment in order to keep the show's G rating. She had to get up from one shot twice in order to make an adjustment to her blouse. The clock was nipping at her heels and she missed.

I agree that looking sexy really helps.

I showed up last week wearing a tank top with ultra tight jeans, and let me tell you it got me noticed!

Oh, no but she definately showed me she was a contender for a top spot in the world, beating Alison over and over will prove tuff. I pretty much figured that it was rerun, but I hadnt seen the match so it was news to me.. lol.

Evrything I like in a player, I seen in Jasmine. But that sour look.

Jeanette yeah, she might have lost do to her attire but I gurantee she has made more money and has a stonger fan base because she tries to please her fans. high heels might be a lil xtreme.

The match ....

Jasmin is poised, confident, has a good eye, and a strong game. I think she will be joining Allison and Karen at the top eventually. I am interested in the match, any sex appeal is a bonus, but not the reason I am watching.
European players seem to know the benefits better on being fit, phsyically and mentally more than American players.

Allison looked like a female Nick Varner she was chewing the gum so hard.

I did not like Jasmin having that necklace dangle down and rub against her cue when shooting. I don't see how that could not bother her, it would me.
That will bother her in some match on some shot sometime.
 
This thread convinces me that men who watch women's pool tournaments on TV are sexist pigs! I would like to add that I resemble that remark. :rolleyes:

Then you were not at the Worlds Straight Pool Championships in New Brunswick, NJ this past year.

i thought similar based on just her win against allison. while it was a landmark win, she didn't seem to play that great. but since then i've seen a few vids including her playing thorsten and allen hopkins at straight pool, and she is the real deal as far as i'm concerned. one of the most fluid strokes i've ever seen. a real natural.

and of course, no comment about a female player would be complete without a mention of her looks. let's just say she's very easy on the eyes...;)
