Jay Swanson could play very well.
He was a very smooth stroking lefty.
He was a big guy in size, tall and Santa-ish.
He had one out of order eye..so he had to rely on
the other, of course...something, huh?
Mostly, he played 9-ball, I think..that's all I saw
him play and compete at.
He won a BIG Tourney for like $25,000 I heard for a fact.
He was a very good player..softspoken, funny, and had some
good quips...he is missed.

I saw Jay several times at pro touraments in Atlanta and win or lose he was always a gentleman. He played really great and never seemed rattled by bad rolls or bad opponents.

:D I saw Jay at the King Road Tavern in 1986 in Myrtle Beach S C,they had a Monday night bar table tourney that was the toughest bar table tourney i have ever seen,Archer would play when he was in town,Weenie Beenie was there every Monday,Steve Wiggams and many other double tough players.Jay mowed the whole field down like they weren't even there the whole time drinking drambuie, seemed to be a super nice guy and a great player.Later when i moved back to Dayton Ohio i spoke with Bucky Bell, another great bar table player,he told me that he was waiting for Swanee in the car that night.LOL

I think Jay Swanson was Johhny Archer's road partner way back when.
That is true.
The first pro tournament I saw was a PBT event in San Diego back in '94.
Archer won it and cried after. Jay died right before that tournament.
Grady commented on one Accustats match, he never saw Jay take the wrong shot ever.

Swanee was a great guy and excellent money player,I watched him play everyday back in the eighties at college billiards,he would play thier daily and disapeer for a month or so and pop in again after being on the road.He is still a legend in San Diego and is missed dearly
