JB case question

Well my old Murnak case time has come. She needs to be retired.... So i'm looking at JB cases, my question, is about the interior. With it being so snug, will it catch on cues with rubber (BK Rush) or real lizard wraps? Will the material wear on the cues finish?

Thanks for the info!

I have a butterfly case and it's tight. But still fits

Yes, it will catch on rubber/sport wraps. You can get a sleeve for the cue butt to ease the process.

I have a 2x3 ultimate rugged and I store my BK3 with the rubber sports wrap in it. it’s a little tight but works fine. I recommend JB cases.

I have a Lucasi Big Bertha II with a rubber grip. When I first started carrying it in my JB Rugged, it took some force to get it to go in and out. It worried me, but within a few days, it loosened up and is a non-issue now. I think I may have seen someone asking JB about this on his Facebook feed and he answered the question.

I also have a 2x3 ultimate rugged and the interior is a little too tight. Everytime i put in my bk3, the rubber catches and I have to put it in at an angle and shimmy it all the way down. Good case otherwise though.

Did you not get a butt sleeve included? I was not using mine which came with the case until this thread got me thinking why not. My case is set up as a 3x4 and I've started using the sleeve for my main player. With the loop sticking above everything else it makes removing that butt very easy.

Which type of Murnak case do you own? I have one of Jim's butterfly case and the JB interior drops right in.

We have started supplying sleeves for the few folks that need them. Conversely, because our interiors are easily removable and we are a custom maker, we can, on request, build interiors to suit your needs. That means we can make the cavities wider, less padding, or lined with nylon instead of fabric as needed. Typically we don't charge for such modifications. Once in a while a customer will ask for something that requires time to create new patterns and time to prototype and then we will charge a modest fee for that work.

Here is a video I made on this subject last year.

We only recently started including them with the case. Most people don't need them but I figured better to go and supply at least one instead of having customers go back and forth when they have or get a rubber gripped cue.

I truly hope this fad fades soon.

You can get the interior with thinner padding and it will allow the cues to slide in and out easier. JB Cases can provide that when you order the case or it can be provided as an after market item directly from them. The interiors for the non-butterfly cases are easily removed and replaced. I don't know if they provide a comparable thinner interior for the butterfly cases.

I have a 4x8 Rugged case, actually my second, and I have a BK Rush and an Ob Rift both with the rubber grip and its really not a problem. Originally I used the but sleeve with my OB, which is tighter than the Rush, but it really is not an issue. As a side now use the bustle for my Predator Air 2 Jump but. It works perfecta and makes it easy to pull out the but when needed. I use the jump pocket of my rugged for my Tiger extension.

I also have a 4x8 rugged. The rubber gripped butts are a lesser problem when the case is not completely full. The BKs tend too run smaller diameter in the grip section than most cues so they are easier to take in out of the case sleeves. If my case has 4 butts I always remove the player cue before the break cue butt for easier removal. The break cue always goes in first.

As far as wear on the cues, the case allows almost zero movement of the butts or shafts so wear should be far less than most cases. The only wear will be from taking cues in and out of the case. The lining material is very soft so I doubt wear is an issue.

Another advantage of the JB rugged is the cases are much smaller in girth than most other 4x8 cases that use different or hard tube interiors.
