Congratulations to Jeanette Lee for her recent induction to the WPBA Hall Of Fame!

Here's a brief clip of her acceptance of this award!

I met Jeanette back around 1991 when she was the house pro at Amsterdam Billiards. Even then, she devoted a good chunk of her week to promoting the game as best she could, hosting free clinics twice a week and offering tips to anyone that needed them and would listen. She's a helluva lady, a great player and well deserving of the WPBA Hall of Fame. She was one of my earliest influences in pool and easily one of the most significant.

I have the utmost respect for Jeannette and George they will both get down and GAMBOOOOLL I have seen her in agony due to her back and not complain playing a long ahead set she is a warrior and had a great run in the mid 90's till now always a threat she deserves to be enshrined

indeed.
She has single handed promoted herself and pool in general more then anyone playing in any era I would say.

A great ambassador for the game.

Absolutely spot on...

Jeanette is a good friend of mine that I've gotten to know very well over the past few years. She is truly one of the most inspiring people I know. She is an exceptional person on and off the table. I know she will always have her critics and people will say and think what they may, but I can truly say that once you get to know the real "Jeanette Lee" (not the "black widow") you will realize you have gotten to know a wonderful person and true ambassador of the game. NOBODY loves pool more than Jeanette. She has a drive like non other and has conquered many things in her career. She was told years ago she would not be able to play pool again, but she didn't let that stop her and despite playing the majority of the time in pain and agony she still has the drive and will to play like a champion every single time!

Congrats J...thanks for being a good friend.

I'm glad to hear this news. She is a great ambassador for pool to the non-playing public.

Thanks for the link to her speech!! She always seemed like the woman
that James Bond would meet in a movie. I always had a lot of respect
for her over the years and wish her and her family well in the future.

In the early nineties, she went to the West Coast from NY to Carson City to train with Bobby Hunter. She and he went down to LA for a publicity shoot and intro...she stayed in LA and was a regular at Hard Times with her friend Helena...hustling...they didn't have jobs.

She started shooting in the WPBA tournaments in the LA area...Then Gerda, Allison and then Karen showed up in LA...the rest is history. What could have been for her if there wasn't an European invasion?

She intimated that the WPBA is on it's last legs and was thankfull that she got the award...kind of sad.

Kudos for what she has accomplished in the pool world and her family...peerless.

Every afternoon Jeanette and Helena would play and practice together at Hard Times. She was always pleasant with everyone. Their was a Japanese fellow with one eye who at that time was probably in his mid to late 70's. He was often referred to as "One Eye John." He was always a complete, soft spoken gentleman. Sometimes he and Jeanette would play. Jeanette would play left handed and John would play one handed. The shrieks of laughter, during their game would attest to her love of the game. She and her spirit have been missed. Nice lady.
