I BOUGHT THIS CUE OFF OF A GUY WHO HAD OWNED IT FOR A LONG TIME THE ORIGINAL SHAFT HAD GOTTEN SO SMALL THAT HE BOUGHT A SET OF FRANKLIN REGULAR RINGED SHAFTS AND PUT ON IT. I SOLD THE SHAFTS TO A FRIEND OF MINE SO I WILL SELL THIS BUT AT A GREAT PRICE. LIKE ALL OF THESE SATIN FINISH CUES IT HAS A ROLL IN THE NOSE BUT IS STILL VERY PLAYABLE AND ANYONE COULD HAVE EITHER A NEW SHAFT MADE FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 TO 125 OR COULD TAKE A EXTRA SOUTHWEST SHAFT AND HAVE THE RING CHANGED ON IT TO MATCH ...I RECOMMEND PHILLIPPI CUSTOM CUES RICK IS THE BEST 410 437 2386 HE CAN MATCH ANYTHING!!
PLEASE CALL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS TIM COLE 765 993 7050
PRICE cue is sold

I second the last inquiry --- what is the weight of the butt?

Aside from the slight roll in the nose of the butt, are there any dings or other minor issues?

Finally, I am a bit new to cues, and wonder if the slight roll in the nose of the butt can be somehow repaired? Is this even possible?

Thanks!

A roll in the butt?

My satin does not have a roll in it and I don't see SW letting cues go out the door with rolls either. IMO

well ive only sold about 250 southwest cues in the last 13 years and i would say that 80% of them have some roll in the nose because of the parabolic taper and the birdseye cues are the worse and anyone who nose southwest cues will agree...it does not affect playabitlity...roll your cue in front of a lighted window on samonis clothe, if your cue rollws perfect than you might have the rarest southwest in the world.

i would say it's not only southwest but rather most of cues have tiny imperfections to it.

Do you by chance have a PIN #? You mention Jerry Franklin era --- any year approximation?

PM also sent.

On the "slight roll" - I agree, there is a slight roll on most SW's I have seen. Obviously I haven't seen as many as the seller, but I think he's being quite honest here. In fact I would bet that it is so slight that many wouldn't even notice it.

For the pin # - This cue, I believe is a SW "Satin" or "Pacifier" which do not come with pin numbers. However, they are unmistakably SW's. I personally own a JF era Satin and I can say that it is one of thee best hitting cues I have ever hit with. I also have a 30yr Master BCA instructor who feels the same way. These are quality cues for the price.

Personally, if I were in the market for a SW, I'd hop on this for the price alone! And if you don't want to wait for a SW shaft, talk to Mr. Fisher of Fisher Cues and he can fashion you up a nice OB or Predator with matching ring work for probably less than the market price (I had a quote from him for an OB2 with matching SW rings for less than I would have paid for a plain OB2!)

Sorry to hi-jack this thread. I just think highly of these cues and personally feel like this is a steal. I paid much more for my Franklin era SW but enjoy every minute of it!

Also to any interested on this type of cue - search the forums for SW Satin and you'll find lots of info and reviews. The info I got from AZers sealed the deal for me when I bought mine!

These are usually the woods the reject from the main cueline because of lack of figure in the wood or something.Make no mistake about the playbilty,it is same or better.
Also they just have an oil finish so they are less protected from cliamatic afftects on the wood. That is why the have slight roll over a period of time. Many of us clean it with wet cloth and straight away keep in the case while moisture is still on the cue, this also affects and can make the cue have a roll.
They never put pin number on satin finish cues. However they do have some plain jane no poinited cues made on customer requests which have pin numbers.

Good luck with the sale:thumbup:

I hate when I'm wrong.

I just rolled my satin SW on the Simonis and you can't see a roll but when I rolled it on a glass table top I could see maybe about a business card thick roll. Son of a %$^#@.
