Jim Murnak Case Owners

I have look at the Murnak web-site, and was interested in the Vintage Case. but after e-mail the company can not get a good solid answer on the Cases weight in 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 configuration.

Anyone who is a Murnak Vintage Owner and have put their empty Murnak Case on a scale, I would appreciate know the approx. weigh.

When I went to visit Jim Murnak, he was putting the finishing touches on a beautiful carved case - a 3 x 5, I think. For the quality and thickness of the leather, it was not terribly heavy. I was very surprised.

weight of Jim Murnak 3x6 cue case

I don't have a scale, but the person mentioned in the following post did. He said his 3x6 Murnak weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces. JimM explains that some extra weight is involved in making it more sturdy and durable than other cases. Here is the link:

I just got my 3x6 from JimM a couple days ago. (All rumors are true, the cases are awesome. Mine is http://www.jimmurnakcuecases.com/gl2135.htm .) My usual case before that was a nylon pouch, holding 2x2 -- less than just 1 lb empty. So the weight change was a big surprise for me. I was slightly concerned as the handle was set up for right-handed, and I stroke with that arim, and my arm might get muscle bound. But now I am less concerned as I adjusted the left strap and carry the case over my right shoulder, rather than carrying it by the handle.

Lol, I need exercise anyway, so I will be sure to carry it by the handle as well as over my shoulder, if I feel like it.

I would suggest that if weight/size is a factor, consider Jim's 2x4 case?

Unlike production cases, including Whittens (semi-production), all Murnacks are not built the same. Construction is different, pocket layout & configurations can vary greatly, strap system, lid, latches, etc, etc.

Even within the "Vintage" line, there are numerous different cases, and they are not going to weigh the same. I don't mean 2x4 vs a 3x6; I mean Bama Joe's will undoubtedly weigh different than mine, though they both hold the same # cues/shafts.

But do some more research on here and you'll find that all Murnack case owners are more than pleased. As our distinguished Mod Mr.W. once wrote: "I doubt the owner of a Bentley cares about how much the car weighs".

If you want the best, order a Murnack. If you want the lightest, don't.
