Jim Murnak Vintage Case Owners a question

If you own a Murnak Vintage Cue Case with the Diagonal Zippers I would like to know how easy it is to access the pockets to place large item in them like a 2 x Cue Claw or something larger than a Tip Tool, or Chalk and Holder.

As a friend who owns one of the other Top of the line Leather Cases is always complaining about how hard the Side Zipper pockets are to access, and the cases builder should have include a set of Needle Nose Grabbers with his case to help pull item out of the pockets.

Also any other complains about the Murnak Vintage Cases.

I cheat a little :)

I have a Porper six cue holder and a fairly large mechanical bridge that have never really fit in any case I've owned, so I have a long Velcro strap that I lash it to the side of the case with.

HTH,

Dave

I have a Vintage model case but not one with the diagonal pockets - the model I have is GL2127 (the darker version on the right of the page, link below). The bottom pocket is very roomy. It has a front compartment to hold the big stuff and two side compartments - one holds a jump butt if you have one (I don't) and the other will hold other stuff (I use it to hold the second backpack strap in case I ever have to walk across the Sahara Desert with it). I'll let somebody else speak for the diagonal pockets, but with mine there would be no problem holding the cue claw or a case clamp. I think you'll find it a very practical case. Jim seems to have thought of everything. A little thing - the spacers that he includes are very handy for shorter shafts, like my Schulers, and I had no trouble fitting the Schuler shafts, which are a little fatter at the joint than most, into the tubes.

As far as complaints about the Murnak case or Jim himself - I have nothing but praise. The leather and materials used are top quality and the workmanship on mine is flawless. Jim himself is great to deal with.

I have a 3x6 Vintage and I have no problems getting my stuff out of the pockets. I like the design a lot, awesome case.

There are different size pockets in the diagonal zipper style. The #GL2100 has a 1 1/2" deep pocket and the #GL2102 has a 2" deep pocket. This extra size makes a difference in access. You can get these larger pockets on any case.

Thanks,
Jim Murnak

Jim, I just have to say, you make an amazing case. I got 2 from Roy at INDYQ, a 1x2 and a 3x6 Vintage, and I am very pleased with workmanship & design. I will be getting another one in the near future when I think of what I want.

Dude, it's VERY unlikely you will EVER hear ANY complaint about a Murnack case.

The pockets/zippers are so well designed, it makes all the others look bad.

My vintage style 3x6 case came in yesterday. I cannot fathom better workmanship anywhere. I chose the slightly deeper pockets design, so I would have no problem carrying a spotted (measle) cueball. The 6 slanted zippers are awesome. I put 8 1/2 x 11 inch papers in the organizer pocket, folding the papers gently lengthwise. Jim displays mine at http://www.fist-inc.com/general%20leather/gl2135.htm
It is worth the money and the wait.

Q claw can fit, with organizer pocket option

I have a Q Claw that holds 5 sticks. I think that is the largest size. I KNOW I can fit it no problem into the organizer pocket area of my Murnak Vintage case (see my last post for link to pic). But my Q Claw is so heavy, I haven't decided yet if I want to lug it around all the time in the case. If you have a smaller Q Claw, like for 2 sticks, you can choose to have the pockets not as deep as mine or without an organizer pocket, and still store a small Q Claw.

* NOTE: I will test tonight to confirm my 5 stick Q Claw fits, just to make sure, then re-edit here.
* TESTED. Absolutely no problem! The 5 stick Q Claw fits in my organizer pocket. Remember to order your stick with the organizer pocket to hold paperwork or a huge Q Claw.

Ahhh, where was that option when I bought mine? It would have made a world of difference to me. C'est la gere.
Still like your case though. :) However, it just kind of sits there with my Whitten well I use the cheapest case I own, a 3X5 instroke prestige (vinyl). Go figure.

To the original poster, take the 2" deep option Jim mentioned. You'll be glad you did.

Nutin but praise!!!

I am the owner of the #2102, the link that Jim gave is actually my case. I LOVE it. I also own a Justis that I am fond of but prefer the styling of my Murnak. The diagonal pockets are not a problem whatsoever.
Nothing but praise here.:D
