When you can play hit is objective because you know exactly what you are doing! Nothing subjective about it.
But in your case hit is very subjective FOR SURE!!!!!!
Am I using to many big words because that is as nice as I can say YOU ARE A KNOCKER and I HEAR YOU KNOCKIN BUT YOU CAN"T COME IN!!
Good luck with the dictionary here!
Nick

nick, let me stick my nose in this....i don't play great, but in my less-than-humble opinion, i can explain exactly what i think it takes to make a great hitting cue, and furthermore i can spec out a cue for a cuemaker i don't know and be pretty damn certain he will make sweet hitting cue if he follows my specs to the letter. it takes knowledge not playing ability.

your criteria might be objective to you just as certain things i perceive through my objective eyes as well simply because we both have VERY SPECIFIC requirements. however against the backdrop of everyone else's idea of what is good, we are using subjective criteria because we choose a different set of standards.

and what do you say of players who evolve through different types of cues? are they evolving for the better, or are they merely going through a phase? if they a going through different phases, then are all they cues they chose to play with great?????? one day i see grady matthews playing with a billiard tapered cue, the next year i see him playing with a standard pro taper. i've seen robles go from ss jointed to meucci through predator. and the same can be said with a myriad other players of high caliber. were all the cues they played with great?? i've toyed with a cuetec,,,i think it blows chunks. am i wrong because earl and allison endorse it? i think not.

i think most people are NOT cue conscious, and that includes the players. in fact, quite honestly, i think many pool players are the least cognizant of their equipment than maybe any sport performers i can think of.

if you feel you have a high level of understanding about cues, does this mean you can pick the right cue for others? you know this is not so and therefore your criteria is as subjective as any other.

This may very well be the funniest thread I've read in a long time. I sincerely hope it never ends.....

Jimbo, I know it was hard to trade cues that hit so good (are you sure though that you're truly qualified to verify the hit of a cue?).....but those new cues play "jam up" I'm sure.

I haven't played enough with these to tell how they play, maybe tonight I will try them out. I also have not posted the fronts yet, so here ya go.

Year Built

Jimbo,
I like the middle cue, the Tomahawk the best. What year was it built?

In my old collection the Meucci Tomahawk was prolly built some time around 1986-88. The new collection (Blacks) are all dated 1993,1990,1990 I think. The first cue (purpleheart) is a one of kind Ivory joint. The second and third are takes on his catalog cues from that era, not being a Black expert I will guess Pheonix and a modified New Shanon. Again not an expert on Blacks.

I am happy to announce the trade went through. I was not sure what to do, I've worked long and hard to put together my collection, and as you all know the cues were Rare and Hit a Ton, that's a killer combination.
I thought long and hard and after some great advice from well respected collector Marcus (F&L) I decided this was the best move for me.
I hope you guys like my NEW collection.

I feel betrayed that you used Cue Gallery to hawk your unwanted goods!!! :D

Can I have the cue on the left? Is that Samsara swirl? It ain't no purpleheart that fur sure!

If you can't play a fiddle how are you going to make a violin!
I can't ever expand on that logic it is just that simple. You may well know cues but if you can't play you will never really come to know or tell if your cue does any more than work a little better than something you have tried in the past.
A great player can get used to anything! But put a wand in thier hands and everything just gets easier and it is just that simple things just happen easier and with a greater consistancy!
Thanks
Nick

JimBo is a Mucci Collector, and I find that extreemely FUNNY. Thought JimBo would only have high end stuff like SouthWest, Gina, McWorther, Scruggs, etc..

Wondering if JimBo is also into Players, CueTech, and of the Chinese Special.

I have nothing against Chinese Stuff, as I love Egg Rolls, Kung Pow Chicken, and most Chinese FOODS. Chinese Cues are just not my CUP of Tea...........

Come on Jimbo post pictures of your good stuff.....

that would be a better riff, assuming he used the cup o' tea in a Chinese context...thank you.

Why would you find it funny??? My collection was of some very *rare* Meucci cues, if you learned to read you could have followed along and seen that I traded that collection for a new collection of R. Black cues. Do you find those funny as well??

No, I posted all that I had at the time.

I also like Pan fried Dumplings and Gen. Tao's Chicken, as far as Tea goes I don't drink the stuff never have, it's too harsh for my belly.
