jimmy reed 3 rail system

I also have a series of things I put together available on poolstudent.com, just look under the Instruction category or search for kicking. John was kind enough to host the articles for me.

Unfortunately I never got around to posting my 3 rail articles, I quit playing pool around the time I was working on them. Now that I'm playing again, maybe I'll finish them up and post them. I probably have notes on 30 or 40 systems collected from various books and personal experimentation, most are related to 3 cushion but a fair number are applicable to pool as well. Jimmy's information on his DVD's is decent, as are several other sources already mentioned. With a little study and practice many of these systems are deadly accurate.

A few years ago, I found his system that was printable with diagrams. Someone absconded with it and I cannot find the original site. Anyone know the address, it is about 10 pages of diagrams. The new site does not have a printable version that I can find. thanks

Some other facets of the "Corner-5" system which is the "New" system mentioned just above.... According to Shamos, it may have been developed by Alfredo de Oro over 100 years ago. Hoppe never knew of it nor used it -- the diagrams of it in his 1941 book were "borrowed" by his ghost writer from an earlier author. The third-rail contact point is quite consistent across equipment, but the fourth-rail point needs a lot of adjustments.

Here is a pertinent quote from an earlier thread on "systems":

"[I prefer] a playing model that roots its foundation on real laws of physics - before placing my faith in watered-down memory aids, empirically derived numbers, or diamond aiming systems that imply the fictitious notion of a standard reference table."

I didn't write this, but the author read my mind and said it better.

That would be me. ;)

Ira,

How are you doing? We talked eons ago on RSB, you sent me a videotape (remember those?) of a artistic exhibition at Sang Lee's room.

Hope you're still playing 3-cushion strong. Sadly for me I can't play anymore, I moved to Jacksonville, FL and there are no tables anywhere in sight. My once half-way decent .7 average is probably now a distant memory... Heard rumors they were installing a table in a new room, keeping my fingers crossed, I love the game.

Hope things are going well!
