Is Jimmy Rempe still shooting with a Meucci? I noticed on his website that he said that Bob Meucci was going to come out with a new Meucci/Rempe line of cues. Didn't know how old that post was on his site.

Also, has anyone heard that Bob fired almost the entire Meucci staff? Heard that has picked up shop and moved to Tennessee?

Thanks!

Last time I saw Rempe, which was few years ago, he was still playing with a Meucci. I've heard, but have not had it confirmed, that Meucci production cues are no longer going to be made and Bob is going to be making only custom orders of his own. I know that Lori Jon's in Greenville, SC hasn't carred Meucci cues for some time now.

I doubt if Bob wants to go back to taking custom orders.
A lot less money for a lot more work.
I think his cues are Meucchina now.

Well, I know he's going to make Sammy Jones a new cue. Sammy hasn't gone to see him yet, but they've talked on the phone, IIRC. Sammy's cue was stolen a few months back.

idea

If Bob wants Meucci to make a comeback he needs to introduce a 3rd line of cues. He can keep the blackdot and reddot. However, if he came back to an late 80's or early 90's style shaft he would get a lot of customers back. He use to pretty much have a large share of the market back then. Predator took some of those customers, but the advent of the red/black dot shaft pretty much destroyed what was left.

I think that the pre-red dot shafts were the best he ever made. I had a Jimmy Rempe model from the early 90's that was one of the best hitting cues I have ever had. I am by no means an expert on marketing, but thats my 2 cents and I know of a ton of people who would agree with me.

Bob, if your out there, give it a try. See what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised. I know of a lot of old Meucci fans. Give the old style shafts a shot again.

yea... but the current meucci needs to improve alot on quality...
as for Jim Rempes cue.. his meucci was a customised Meucci oldie 5. or the Power piston 4.. (the design is the same) just that his had a ebony forearm, mother of pearl floating points with cocbobolo inlays... and had a burgandy stack leather wrap... it was put on sale on ebay a few months ago.. or was it last year i cant recall.. came with 6 shafts.. 4 red dot.. 2 blacks.. didnt buy it.. cause it was way too expensive..

yeah i heard rempe was done with meucci..

also heard the reason bob let go more then half his workforce and moved back to his farm for a smaller shop was because they declaired some sort of bankruptcy... also heard he was going to start making MCC meucci custom cues... but on a very limited basis..

also.. that the best place to buy a meucci now is Budget Billiards, because it is ran by bobs daughter and his soninlaw.. and that he ripped off most of the people he sold wholesale to.. by taking their money and sending them part of their orders and warped and cues that would only be considered seconds..

bob needs to do ALOT of things to get back to his 80's status.. black dot shafts was a huge flop.. and so were most of the plastic cues he made..

i recently bought a 97-28 cue for a customer, the guy begged me for months to order it for him.. i told him i would never buy another meucci.. but after awhile, i gave in.. the cue came and it was so bad.. full of discoloratoion, spots, rings were raised, and there were holes in the finish.. one big one right in the middle of the E in meucci. looks like somebody stuck a thumbtack in it..
and one of the shafts were warped (red dotts) , they were red dots, because the whole seller i deal with refused to carry the black dotts because of such bad quality... anyways.. i wouldnt even consider the cue second quality.. more like THIRDS!!!!!

dont even get me started about the cue i sent back for warranty work.. there was an imperfection in the white wrap and it caused the sealed finish to crack.. anyways.. meucci had it for 4 months.. they told me that is was ready to be shipped back during one call.. and during another call, they told me they ran out of white irish linen..lol.. imagine that. something they use on most of their cues..lol.. anyways.. i had to confront bob at valley forge one year just to get results.. that was on a thursday.. when i got home from VF on monday.. the cue had been delievered.. they sent brand new butt...

new meucci's are a bad subject around these parts and the way bobs buisness ethics are to only fullfill just enough of an order to keep himself out of Jail... just do a search here on the forum to see how many people he ripped off.. now old meucci's.. cant beat them.. mass production really brought down a huge empire!
