Here Hear me out! ;) (Thanks JAM https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/jj-needs-some-new-commentary.542333/post-7236695

I love JJ's commentary during a match. I feel like my pool IQ goes up about 10 points each tourney where he commentates. After the tourney, I can still hear his voice discussing certain shots from the tournament.
"Ya gotta just put top on that one and go back and forth" etc.

And that stuff helps me tremendously, but then I start hearing his voice narrate my practice and it always sounds the same:

"Man, he should not have taken that shot. I dont know what he was thinking"
"I don't think I would have shot that shot quite like that"
"He certainly has a different shot selection than I would have"
"The way he shot that, there was no way he was gonna get position"
"He missed again, I don't think he belongs in this tournament"
"Oh, my. There is no excuse for that"

JJ needs some new commentary cause I need to hear JJ say more positive things when I shoot.

Maybe its just me.😜

JJ has excellent commentary with his explanations of shots but sometimes he explains from his higher point of view. What is obvious to him may not be obvious to lower level players especially in One Pocket. Commentating on pool is a work in progress.

When I ran into JJ in Vegas this past week at the Rio, I mentioned to him about his M.Rm. opportunity and that he might think of taking a few college courses to improve his skills.
I felt this need during the early 1980'a Reno days of Fleming/Accustats.
I felt the game was going somewhere....so I took two semesters at Pikes Peak Community college, radio/tv production courses.
Doing this definitely gave me the perspective and skills that was needed to improve.
It also got me into 3 control trucks & involved in creating on floor camera movement angles, that made productions waaaay better.
These TV guys had no clue on how to make their shoot/production better, because NO one within their group understood the pro game.

Josh Roberts is great at 1P commentary as well. Super sharp, and understands what he’s talking about.
I agree about Josh, well spoken and very knowledgeable.
I also enjoy listening to Danny Diliberto with his raw humor, although some folks don't like him.
I may be a little biased because I'm Italian, played organized baseball for 12 years, boxed a few years,
breaking my hands 3 times, and have enjoyed pool for about 54 of my 68 years.
None of my sports reached anywhere near a pro level though. ~ (straight pool high-run is 26, lol).

My high run is higher than 14.1<—— true

14.1 is by far my worst game.

I’ve almost banked in more balls than tan in 14.1, that great for banks lol

I love pool, always have, always will. It’s always been a big part of my life

I'll give you a tip. Try to stop with the head chatter, it will hurt your game. Simply see what needs done, chalk, sit chalk down, get into stance, wait for quiet eyes and shoot. Thinking and judging your effort is the easiest way to shark yourself. In practice it's ok I guess, but it's hard to get out of practice head chatter mode and into competition mode if you're not careful and disciplined about it. See what happens, go for next shot, next safe, or go sit down if you missed. Try again when you're back at the table.

It's hard to keep a high level game if you're always overthinking stuff. Take it easy to make it easy.

JJ is the best,

he's found his calling, fantastic in that role, looks the part too, was a pleasure listening to him on the broadcast

as a sports fan, I do believe British commentary overall though is light years beyond the stuff here

for those unfamiliar, soccer matches there often just use one guy which is super wierd at first, crazy skills required to carry an entire game solo

Just play better and he'll stop saying that stuff.

Here's the man I was thinking about during my years, that made a Huge impact on the announcing of pool matches.

''Tom Kelley. He did the 'Prime Network' telecasts. HOF announcer. He was the USC announcer for 50yrs. He passed in 2016. ''
