JK custom information ?

If you do a lil dig you'll find that there are literally HUNDREDS of co's in China turning this stuff out. I looked at some of their stuff and it doesn't look horrible. Until they're in the market a while and we see real un-biased reviews i'm sticking with my initial take: random chinese cues. I'll find out who the actual maker is, just take a few key hits.

Well what i found is there is a 'JK Custom Cues' which are touted pretty good by T.Soong. This thread asks about 'JK Luxury Cues', it could be the same outfit but i don't know.

Found a few reviews and based on them and pics on the JKLuxury site it looks likes they're pretty nice cues. As good as anything i've seen on JFlowers site.

They look like JFlowers rebranded
i think its a different factory but same basic business plan. if that factory in the video is the real shop then it looks like they make pretty good cues. i wouldn't order one on spec but would like to see/hit one.

the brand name doesn't matter. it is the quality of the brands specific cue that you like that matters. of course some brands are all crap and don't apply.

that is why you should only buy a cue that you had a chance to hit. not from a pretty picture.

still in general you get what you pay for. buy cheap get cheap.

I lived in Taiwan for three years a long, long time ago.

I played pool and gambled there almost every day.

The cues they made back then were JUNK and I could have bought a boat load for next to nothing, but I never bought one.

Some of the companies make some really nice cues now, but there is still a lot of cheap junk that is sold worldwide.

I visit Taiwan every so often and I usually stay in the city where the better cues are made.

I plan on going to Taiwan sometime in the next six months, or so, and I am hoping to visit some of the places where the cues are made.

If I can find something I like and make some deals, I may buy some of their existing models or have them make some customized models to my specifications.

A cue could look really nice and initially play well, but if the maker didn't understand the importance and indicatrices of properly drying the wood (or didn't care enough), the cue has a good likelihood of turning banana shaped in a year or two.

Filipino cues used to be that way(still?). They looked great new and warped in a year.

that is another big advantage of buying a used cue or one off the wall in a pool room that sells cues.
there are so many makers now using green wood or heat dried, as they have no way of storing shaft wood for years like some do.

I checked the site and they all look pretty similar with other cues. the only difference is the logo. well, there goes outsourcing.

they have their own factory. they're basically doing same thing as jflowers. they're are not related to JKCustom cues, those look pretty sweet: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/2016-jk-cues-8-pointer-bem-micarta.432752/
pretty clean work. although do they have their own website? I'm going for a clean look custom without the veneers, points, etc.... I think I'm going for semi/full amboyna burl look for now. although I might consider a local custom as well later in the year. that one would have an amboyna burl and rosewood with a bit on intricacies. let's see how I do for 2026. 2 custom cues for 2026.

i've talked to more than one builder that won't mess with that burl stuff. that crazy grain can move/warp. ok for maybe points/inlays but as the main structure i'm leery of it. would have to be really cored well.
