I just called and was told by the gal that answered the phone that they have 104 players for the main event.

If anyone has any updates on who's playing and any ACTION reports please keep us updated.

Shane and Alex are there. They've been in action the last two nights. John Schmidt decided a bar table tourny was better than no tourney at all and has been knocking a few balls around. Chad Vilmont, Cliff Joyner, Ronnie Wiseman, and Brian Jones were all seen out Wed. night. Johnny Archer, Gabe Owen, and Jose Parica are also on the way.

The main tournament started tonight, however I will not be there till Friday or Saturday, possibly both. Saturday night is the best night to go because of the midnight madness tournament. Its $500 entry fee, winner take all.

No surprise that pro's are showing up JOB's runs a great tournament! Also helps that Shannon's Tournament the next week and the big tournament in Memphis the week after that.

3 tourneys within driving distance of each other back to back to back... Good time for pool in Tennessee!

jobs great tourney

yeah its just great if you want to choke from the smoke

i was at the great job billiards i have the luck of having to live here in nashville, in a matter of minutes i remembered what a nightmare it is to be around when the tourney is going on well lets see where will i start, smoke eaters that do no good at all, no place to sit, seats that are there terrible,7 dollars a night at the door to watch bar table pool ,on tables that the great jim blaklock choose to recover the slate and not the rails people where laughing about as soon as i walked in some of the regulars pointed it out to me i wasnt surprised at all,i mean what could you expect from a place that sells a small bowl of beef stew for five dollars what a bargain, maybee i will go back tommorrow if im lucky i wont get robbed in the parking lot or my car broken into which has happened before, anyway after sat maybee i will go another year with out going into the great J O B billiards home of champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang...

Tell us how you really feel.

You're complaining about having world champions playing just minutes from your house?? I wish I could complain about the same problem.

JOB's can get smokey at times, and during the tournament it is very crowded but if it was'nt there would be no tournament would there. You're also complaining about having to pay seven bucks to watch as much pool and action as you can stand? There is also more seating there than in most any other pool hall I've been to, but with the crowd Blaylock draws in he would have to pull half the tables out of the tournament room to seat them all. I stood last year for hours at a time and was happy to do it. Not to often I get to see Shane, Johnny, Gabe, Buddy, and numerous other top players all at one time even if it is on bar boxes.

Hambone<----drive an hour each way and would drive farther if needed

If Archer opened a poolroom here like the one he owns in ga. JOB" would have to update or it would become JOB's beer barrel......................

What he said. But its not that the smoke eaters don't do any good...he doesn't even HAVE any...that work at all. The air is BLUE in there.

And last year, table 10...which is a feature match table had a hole worn through to the slate at the right rail break area. Bobby Pickle broke from there once and launched the CB so high it hit the light above ANOTHER TABLE!

And it was so not level that Archer missed a slow roll shot by half a ball!

Pretty sad really.

I wish I was there in all that smoke, playing on the unlevel tables, and eating the 5 dollar beef stew.

Cut Jim some slack....he's got a whole lot more going on to worry about!! He's a hell of a guy, and he's done a lot for pool in middle Tennessee. He's having a tough time just getting around.....(fiber myalgia) It's a terrible, crippling disease.

He's been a friend for 40 years or so. For a number of years around the Madison-Goodletsville-Hendersonville area, there really wasn't ANY place to play. Till he came along....

I sure wish I planned better....I would have went straight from the Derby

Someone please tell him hello from me....

Rick S.

I stopped by JOB's on my way to the Derby and again on my way home. The tables and the whole place looked up to par. From my experience with Jim I would say that all anyone has to do is let him know there is a problem and he will fix it ASAP. Especially during his big tournament.

So, anybody got any updates on the event ?

Who's WINNING, Who's Losing, any Big ACTION !

That beef stew gives any other beef stew the 5 and the breaks, WOW. There is a joint in Beverly Hills I eat at from time to time and it costs about $100/person for dinner and their beef stew is good but the $5 JOB stew in a styro foam drills the fancy joint. God I wish they had food like that at the Derby.

JOB's is a great hardcore players room. I am stuck in the FVcking room today with a backache and i'm pissed, real pissed, I have zero shot at going there, yesterday I was talking to barry bartrum laying across 3 barstools, I hope I will be able to go tonight. I have been in about 110-120 pool rooms in my life and as a player I would put that room in the top 10%,

I am wondering if this beef stew isn't more like the southern treat Brunswick Stew perhaps? If you've ever had it you will agree it is da bomb diggity!:)

i dont know, its 100% homemade not the salty canned $hit. It has okra in it and it isnt slimy, it is perfect. yeah it is expensive but somebody put alot of time into making it, not opening a can and for me that is the right way to blow $$$ pay someone who is good at what they do, like paying a cue builder. That is a principal of mine, if its good pay the person who made it, I dont like to eat processed food. Overall the food in America has got really bad the past few years and that sucks, I like good food, hott girls and a good hitting cue. Who wants a fat ugly chick, bad food and a bad cue? life is too short not to have good simple things.

cliff just beat SVB, Archer is in the losers side and alex and shannon are about hill/hill my spy couldnt get a perfect read on the beads but its close

and fatboy is in the room pissed off with a crippling backache, the pills just made me sick today. so i'm here making the most of it

Have your ever seen a D.O. and had osteopathic manipulation? I am not talking about a chiropractor, but a real D.O. They can perform miracles when it comes to back pain. Warren..
