Joe Baker "jbcustomcues" custom cues. Ok, so I received the cue on the 13th, but it's the holiday season so I've been a little strapped for time and didn't have a chance to give it a run till last night.

Again, the cue has a cocobola forearm with three high and three low olive wood points, black with white speckaled irish linen wrap and a cocobola butt sleeve with three high and three low olive wood points. The cue has no ring work on joint end of the butt and a white something or other butt cap. The shaft has what appears to be a modified pro taper, if you want specifics, ask joe, and came with an aegis ferrule and le pro tip. Also, per my request, has a black ring at the joint.

Measurements:
12.95 mm, 1" long Aegis Ferrule and LePro tip.
29" Hard Rock Maple Shaft with, I think, a modified pro taper
29" Butt with 3/8x10 pin with a measurment of .835" at the joint.
Butt Balance = 14" from the butt cap
Cue Balance = 19" from the butt cap
Shaft Weight = 3.5 oz
Butt weight = 15.4 oz
Total weight = 18.9 oz

Anyway, now that all that is out of the way, The First thing i have to say is Joe was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Very easy to talk to and discue things with. That being said, the finish on the cue is perfect with an absolutely beautifully figured piece of coco as well as nicely figured olive as well. The first comment I've received from anyone that's looked at it, pool player or not, is "that's a nice looking stick". For the collector, probably not the best, as the points where CNCed and have rounded tips as apposed to the sharp pointed tips a lot of people seem to prefer. For the player that doesn't care about how pointed the tips are, such as me, this is a very nicely put together cue with first rate craftsmanship. All the points are even and evenly spaced.

The cue has a firm, but not to firm, solid, crisp, hit. There is a slight resonance of that ping sound you get from cues such as schon. Not a bad thing, some people prefer it, I myself like a quieter hit, plus, my preference is a little softer with a little more flex as I came up using meucci's and got a little accustomed to that whippy feeling, though I do like how this one hits and defiantly the looks. Although, I do plan on changing out the tip to a medium layered and the ferrule to ABS to quite it down and soften it up some.

I'll usually have it with me around the Marietta and Roswell, Georgia areas mainly at Mazzy's on Alpharetta highway on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, also I occasionally get up to Marietta Billiard Club on Sundays for the 9-ball tourney's. Gimme a holler if you wanna have a look and test hit it out. I'll be the guy with red hair most likely not wearing any shoes.
