Which should I get .... for my own use and maybe I will do some friend's tips.

There are few used Willard's around for +/- $300 and the Porpor is $100 +/-.

Thanking you in advance for your sage advice.

I bought a kit from seyberts I think it was, mostly porper stuff plus a sanding disc, it does work but your not going to get it to look like if someone done it on a lathe, close but not quite

I’ve had both. Never liked/got used to the Porper. I did a lot of tips with the Willards and it works well. Once I bought a lathe I sold the Willard’s.

Howdy All;

My question is; If you're trimming the tip with what appears to be a
pencil sharpener what keeps it from "trimming" the ferrule?

Haven't used mine for a long time but seems like some tips were too tall for it to work properly so had to trim a layer or two off the top for the guide to reach the ferrell

Maxx, Howdy;

What was it about the Willard that lead to you deciding to keep it instead of the Porper???

It worked well, it was a repeatable process with consistent results. With the big shaver I was always worried (didn’t happen) about damaging the ferrule.

It kind of odd, you are right if you don't keep an eye on it you can cut right into the ferrel.. big time.
I would like to get one of these. Just not sure about them.
Thanks for the welcome.

Not to side rail the thread, but anyone have one of these?
